  • Ipaq?

I know this is supposed to be related to computer issues, but I have an Ipaq that I bought in July and I cannot get the thing to do what I want it to do. Is anyone in "Geek-land" familiar with this item? By the way, I am a college Communications teacher so I love nerds. Of course, I am one so there you go...gotta love geeks and nerds!

What's do you specifically want it to do? Sync your contacts? Install some PDA apps?

      Re: Ipaq?

      Kent,

I would like it to keep my calendar of things to do. I know how to synch it, but I would rather it allow me to have the calendar as a list of tasks to check off each day rather than a calendar that dings at me and then I have to remember if I remembered to do the task. I teach for five online universitites so you can imagine that my schedule is hectic.

Sorry I might not be able to help with that. My suggestion would be to do it (conversion from appts to tasks) on your pc side not in the synchronization point. For that, problem I came up with this link:

If you're asking if you can convert the recurring appointments to
recurring tasks automatically, I don't think you can, at least not
without some kind of 3rd party addin or possibly some code (and I don't
know of any offhand -- you can always check www.slipstick.com).
However, if you just want to create regular tasks and then make them
recurring yourself, that's fairly easy to do:

Switch your Calendar view to a table such as By Category. Select the
recurring appointments/events (hold down CTRL while clicking to select
multiples), then right-click on one of them and drag the bunch to the
Tasks folder. When you release the mouse button you will get a menu
asking if you want to create the tasks with text from the original
appointments, or shortcuts to the original appointments, etc. Make your
selection and the tasks will be created. If you chose one of the "Copy"
options, you'll need to manually delete the original appointments if you
don't need them anymore. Finally, return to the Tasks folder and create
        the recurrences.
