  • Looking for a hassle free Universal Remote? Check this out!

    Hi folks,

If any of you are struggling with the frustration of having a gazziliion remotes - good news!

The Kameleon universal remote is fantastic. I've bought other universal remotes but it was always a huge hassle to set them up only to find certain components still didn't work I would take it back to the store.

The Kameleon performs as good as it looks, all touch screen, no buttons to press and the entire back screen is backlit. It took me 5 minutes (literally) to set it up and controls up to 8 components. Here's the link if you want to take a look at it

User-friendly universal remote controls and accessories for home and personal entertainment. Solutions that let you experience maximum home comfort.

Free at last! I just packed away 6 remotes thanks to this thing!

I too just bought an all in one remote. I got the harmony 688. I LOVE IT! No need to enter codes. Just plug it in to a USB on yoru computer and go to the website. They ask you a few questions and BAAM, 10 remotes off my coffee table! I even set up functions (macros). One example of what a function does is: I hit the "Watch a Movie" button and it switches my TV input, goes into the TV menu, switches the audio output, turn on my DVD player, and turns on my receiver. This use to take 3 remotes and about 12 buttons to do. Now I just hit one. MY WIFE loves it even more! She use to hate my home theater setup because it was so complicated to use. Now she loves it and it even makes her not mind my Audio/Video addiction so much (she lets me buy more stuff LOL).

The model I got lists for $299 but I found it on ebay for $125.

    Check them out here.

      Hi Rhinohd!

The Harmony is GREAT It's funny you mention it, many moths ago I read about it on the Logitech site but couldn't find it anywhere. Went through a couple of Sonys and an All-in one..they were all over priced and you needed to be a nuclear physicist to program the damn things.

Only to find out they only worked on a few components - Like you my real headache was with the home theater set up. The reviver is built into the DVD player (I know bad way to go but what the heck) So setting up the home theater each time we popped a DVD in required about 400 remotes and hour of tooth gnashing and swearing.

The Kamelian, although you have to punch in the codes, works like a charm and at $89 is a steal.

      BTW, Isn't eBay great!

I played with one of those Chameleons for a bit and wasn't overly impressed.

Right now my universal remote is a Sony RM-AV3100 (http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTE...sories_Remotes ). I love it, it does take some programming, but that step is pretty easy, and it can learn commands from other remotes, so there is nothing it can't do.

The best feature in my mind is that since the LCD screen is programmable, it changes based on what device you are using. When it is set to operate the TV, I get all commands that make sense for a TV, and when it is set for the DVD player, only DVD-player specific buttons show up, so it makes things pretty simple. It also has a pretty nice programmable macro function, so just a couple button pushes will do almost anything you need done.
