Peter, I absolutely love how you write from the heart as well as your head. That was exactly what I needed to hear and read today. Thanks for the insights and the boldness to post it. Awesome!

Just what I needed. Today is my first day on Induction. I have been there, done that, am here again, again, again.... I am getting sick of falling all the time! I have read Dr Atkins books as they showed up on the shelves, got Atkins for Life even, even gave Diet Revolution to a Charity (now have to go and buy one again).
I am writing this just before I am leaving for gym (at least that is already in place). So here I am. Going to have two scrambled eggs before I leave.
I am 54 years young, look 64 years old, am caregiver to my 34-year old son, and a director of his wheelchair building company. It is freezing in South Africa now and I had THREE mugs full of pea soup last night!!!!!
Louise Steyn who would also love one of those cute little gauges! :sadblinky

WOW!! Peter, thank you so much, this is very helpful and important for anyone to know. I'm going to print this out for myself, and my adoptive mother in law for us both to put on our fridges. I did Atkins back in 2003, and lost 76 pounds, but gains 51 back because I didn't read the entire book back then *hangs head in shame* I didn't get that
ha is a WAY of LIFE, it's the answer to a LONGER life, and not some quick fix to get skinny then go back to eatting high carby foods!! I GET IT NOW!! And your thread has really gave me extra faith and HOPE!! THANK YOU!!!

Peter....
I read your post today and a light came on! So thank you so much for the slap of reality!
I've been on what I call the Atkins diet since August 2004, and have lost 55 pounds. But for the last 2 months... nothing! I was so frustrated, but still was trudging along, you see this is a life change for me. I was on two diabetes medications and two blood pressue meds when I started and am off all of them now. I'm 48 yrs young, all my kids are grown and I'm ready to start living! But I was sad because of this weight loss stoppage until I read this post. #1 READ THE BOOK! I scanned the book, never reallly did the induction, just started limiting my carbs, and lost this weight... til now.... #2 Get moving!( Also have not been exercising, even though I have belonged to a gym for three years, can't remember when I was last there) So anyway... Thanks! I am reading the book and starting over like a newbie! Your jolt was so needed.... Thanks! :icondance

I thank you! :clapping
That was very sobering. I have been feeling sorry for myself. I started this diet in April (3rd time trying in 6 years). I haven't lost much weight this time (around 7 lbs) compared to the rate and speed I lost the first time (12lbs in 2wks). You inspired me to suck it up and drive on!
Since I've been doing Induction, I do have more energy and have less trouble sleeping.
Yours and other postings have shined a light on things I should and shouldn't be doing. I am going to be more serious about this WOE.
- I am going to read ingredients as well as carb content.
I am going to "get moving".
I will leave caffeinated coffee and soft drinks alone.
I will continue to read the book.
That should be a good start.
Thank you all!

thank you for the encouragement!!
I just joined this message group at the encouragement of a friend of mine.
I bought the book today, as soon as I log off the computer, I am going to start reading it.
So I just wanted to say thank you, say hi, and thanks for being here.
Looking forward to this journey with all of you.

Re: **The Simple Truth To Effortless Success on Atkins**
All true, down to the last period and comma. Harder, though, done than said. It is so easy, and all too commonplace, to blame everyone else, but in the end no matter who you blame, you are the one suffering and they are moving on doing their own things.
I used to have a saying on my away message for IMs. Some people hated it and others laughed, but it applies, here as well.
"Being mad at me is like peeing down your own leg; you're the only one who feels it"
So, yeah, being upset with someone for putting "insurmountable" or uninviable tasks in front of you and clogging your day with reasons and justifications for not being able to do something, really only comes back to bite you in the end, literally and figuratively.
I agree that it takes someone willing and ready. The answers are right there, it is adherence and determination that matter more.
Excellent time and place, Peter, for that reminder.

Re: **The Simple Truth To Effortless Success on Atkins**
I think this was absolutly pefectly written. I have a new way of looking at things lately. Its more due to my faith but I believe its true in this WOE as well. "What dont hurt you may kill you." It might taste good to eat whatever you want, but you know what could eventually happen. The pain I feel being overweight is far more than more pain then not being able to eat whatever I want. Thank you for the beautiful post, it definately was what I needed to hear.

Re: **The Simple Truth To Effortless Success on Atkins**
Wow. I hit the forums, to make another effort to lose weight, after throwing the macaroni and cheese comfort food down the toilet, and what an inspiring message. This should be on every Atkins site. It is now on my bulletin board, and shall be read every day. As to reading the books, I have them all, and have read them and reread them, but the emotional eating gets me every time. Dealing with sexual abuse, isolation, rejection(ongoing) etc. takes its toll on me. I will be moving in five months out of the isolation, so that should help. This is not an excuse, just reality. I go days without speaking to anyone, and my husband is going through his own whatever and is emotionally not available. Blah, blah, blah, but still painful to endure. BUT, regardless, if I were an alcoholic, would I drink? No, and if a drug addict, would I use...no! So, just because food is easier to reach for, the consequences are the same. Thanks Peter for the message. You may have saved my life. Hugs.
