using the dots issue

when I click the dot after somebodies name if I need to see their old posting to follow what they are doing about something they have posted and open it in a new window when I close the window I reset my ADBB last visited time to the time that window closed and lose all the new posts I haven't looked at yet. I hate to keep all those ADBB windows open cause it is using up ADBB bandwidth and server. any way around this?

Not that I know of, 2big. I have the same issue, the system recognizes the last time you were here by that, and I don't think there is any way to change how the basic programming of this is set. It's imbedded in there pretty far, in the basic program, not the options we can change.

I will check on it though, just in case my memory is faulty!

I dont think that causes any server or bandwith issues.

really? we were told last yr by an admin when the great culling occured that every time ADBB has to load a topic or pictures it uses bandwith so that is great news to hearthast we got a big enough server and bandwith not to worry about anyof that woo hoo.

I must be losing it! I was thinking you were asking why when you had muliple windows open and closed them, even threads you hadn't read were basically marked as red and didn't show up when you checked for new posts again!

If that is part of what you were asking, it's a program glitch and can't really be addressed, though Tom is looking into some updates or changes that MAY correct any problems like that!

yep jas that was what I was saying. I didn't want to close them cause I was losing my new poosts even when I opened a forum they were all showing up as read

BUT I also didn't want to tie up ADBB server space and bandwidth by leaving them open so as not to lose the new posts. Since Tom said this isn't an issue I can just have multiple ADBB windows open one for doing background and one for writing posts and now I don't feel bad when that silly little PM window pops up and I say yes open in a new window cause I'm in the middle of typing a reply.
