How do you post a poll?

I tried to do one in the Poll forum but I can't figure out how to get it to work.

I checked the box that says to include a poll and put how many options. But it doesn't give me a place to put what the options are for choices. And when I preview messages, it just looks like a regular message, not a poll.

Any suggestions?

dream, i am sorry i didn't see this earlier. did you figure it out yet?

if memory serves me, after you make your selection on how many questions and you click submit, you get the page that asks what you want your poll questions to be.

let me know if you figured it out. if not, i'll take care of the instructions in the morning or whenever i see your post in here.

I tried several times, Jimmie and never got it to work. I tried pm'ing someone, I can't remember who the mod for the forum was but never got an answer.

dream, you probably sent the pm to Jasmain. she's been gone for a bit and hasn't picked up my pm's either. i was very use to her watching this forum, since she was the techy one. i was only a backup but now i am the only mod of the forum.

i'll run a test of my own and give you step by step instructions on how to post a poll.

Thanks, Jimmie. I just looked, I sent it to Richt on March 13 since he was listed as a mod in the polls forum and it's not been read so maybe he missed it.

easy stuff first:

go to the forum
click on New Thread

give your thread a Title and write out your explanation of the poll or the Message you want to say.

you'll have to make sure the Additional Options pull down is open. if it isn't, click on the little arrow to the right of the Additional Options tool bar just under Submit New Thread

choose your options:
miscellaneous - show signature or not is probably the only one you would care about under the Miscellanous Options.
attach files - you are probably not going to be bothering with attaching any files so go past that one.
thread subscription - choose your option by using the pull down.
post a poll - click the yes box and then type in the number of poll options. this would be the number of choices for you are giving for your poll. the max is 10.
thread management - i'm not sure you have this option. i'm a moderator so i have the option to stick the thread or close it. you will just bypass that option and leave those boxes unchecked.

you are ready now to click Submit New Thread.
another page will now be displayed.

type in your Poll Question.
you can now change you number of poll choices by typing a new number in. this is in case you thought of another choice to give to everyone.
poll options - type in your choices, one choice per box.
poll timeout - you have the option to put a time limit on the poll.
miscelleneous options - check the ones you prefer and leave the Automaticall parse links in text box checkmarked. leave the Disable smilies in text unchecked. basically you are only dealing with the first 2 little boxes under Miscellaneious Options.

okay, you're ready to post your poll. click on Submit New Poll. you should be taken then to your poll just like what happens when you post to a thread in any other forum.
