  • using print-screen

    hi
I'm positive that I once read someone's stats journal and they had what looked like a print-screen from their fitday entered for every post. I tried it, but I can't make it work. Is it possible, and do you know which stats journal I'm talking about because I can't remember who's it was!
    Thanks
    MG

      Re: using print-screen

I think it all depends on how your computer is set up. On my computer I have a short cut key on my keyboard (which is a DELL) that says "Print Scree/SysRq" located next to the scroll lock.

In order to save the screen hit that button and a new window should open up of a frozen image of the screen you are on and on the right hand side it should give you the option to continue or cancel. Hit continue and the screen will be captured. I found my screen shots located C:/ScreenShots/file, this is my work computer though and not sure if it needs to set up to do that.

Another way to do a screen freeze is to find the screen you want and hit the Print Screen button on your keyboard and then hit the continue button. Then open a new project in photoshop (it should open in the same size as whatever screen you just froze) and then go to edit and click PASTE. Save your pic as a .jpeg and use photobucket or imagshack.us to host your pics and then you can post your fitday pics!

      Hope this helps!

      Picture steps for using Photoshop:

      1. Find whatever screen you want to save

      2. Press "PRINT SCREEN" button on your keyboard:

      3. Click "Continue Output" button on Print Screen Preview. (sorry I couldn't seem to print screen the print screen preview )

      4. Preview window should close, and a small window should pop up saying capture complete:

      5. Open New Photoshop Project:

      6. Click OK in the window that opens:

      7. Go to Edit and click Paste:

      8. Your print screen should show up in your new project now. Make sure you save it!

          Re: using print-screen

I followed your instructions but on my computer I had to to hold down the 'FN' key while I press the 'Prt SC' key then paste it into the 'Paint' programme that comes with windows as I dont have photoshop.
I then uploaded it to the ADBB gallery and copied the url here to see if it worked.
If I was wanting to get input on it I would have needed to crop the food entries so they appear bigger to make them more legible.

                Re: using print-screen

i finally got around to actually trying this and i'm having a bit of a problem.
i have a Print Scrn/SysRq key but when i press it nothing happens. i have no clue what the FN key is that Eli said she pressed.
I had to to hold down the 'FN' key while I press the 'Prt SC' key
                anybody care to explain that?

I think it depends on your keyboard...I have a Dell like IrishMom so no FN key. But my keyboard at work is a Microsoft one and it does have an FN key. If I hit "Print Screen" nothing happens, whereas Irish has the same keyboard and something does happen for her....the more I try, the more homicidal I become, so I'm giving it a rest for now.

mine says e machines on it so i'm out of luck either way. but i would think with the print screen key, i should have the ability to do what i need to do.... i just have to figure out the 'how'.
