The very few instances where I have had caffeine it gave me a headache. So, it is not something that I want to integrate back into my life.

                Re: caffeine...

While I don't use caffeine every day as I once did, I still find it useful to get my rear in gear. Too much gives me jitters, however, it does get me moving on occasional attacks of sluggishness (but not to the fridge). Though not completely certain of the effect if any on my weight, it appears my weight loss (or lack thereof) bear no associations with caffeine or its absence.

                  Re: caffeine...

When I started Atkins back in 2003 I gave up coffee, just to make sure it was not stalling me. I have since added it back in with no ill effects. But, with everything YMMV!!

                    Re: caffeine...

It slows my weightloss. I will not deny that I have it on occasion.. there are days I need a boost, I do however drink 1/2 caf. when I do drink coffee. It just seems to me that by the time I add my cream + sugar, its just not really worth it unless I am just dead tired from a long night before. I've been trying to switch to decaf green tea.

                      Re: caffeine...

I originally gave up caffeine completely. I was worried I might need it for grad school so I began testing it out this summer and it has not affected me.

                        Re: caffeine...

I drink caffeine for a pickup when I need it, never coffee through, that is always decaf. I alternate between decaf tea and regular. When I am feeling a little down or depressed I find that a cup of regular helps out.

I love a cup of coffee once in a while. We have given up our 4 cups a day (each) of brew and bought a Senseo Pod one cup to use now and then for a special treat. I just found out there is decaf pods for this! It's good for me to have quantity control now that I'm following Atkins way of life.

                            Re: caffeine...

I've never really tested to see if Caffeine affects me or not. I guess it's because I've always lost weight while drinking one to five cokes a day ((yeah yeah, breaking the sweetner rule... ; ; But I love my diet coke so much!!!))

                            However...

I wish I could change my vote, now that I've begun to think about it.

You see, I went through a phase where I was absolutely desperate to lose my weight quickly and I read somewhere that even a mild dehydration can cause your metabolism to lower. I also heard that ice water burns calories very nicely because of the calories your body has to expend to bring it to the right temperature. So, what did I do? I gave up coke in exchange for water. And whenever I felt hungry for a snack, I drank ice cold water or chewed on ice.

I would say that I lost 5 pounds each week while on that tight control of no caffiene. Unfortunately about a month later I was dying for a cold drink and we had no more ice left so I opted for a cold diet coke. Since then I have been a horrible coke addict again

But... i think I've just been inspired to dry doing it the right way again and try giving up caffiene again.

I do not drink coffee in any form. I really do not drink caffine only on rare occasion. I get very anxious. My Husband is Cuban and Cafe Cubano is a traditional thing after a meal. But, I won't touch it. Bright side is my dentist said I had very white teeth. Down side, I have 0 energy sometimes when I need it.
