I want to shout to the world, this couch potato just did 500 crunches!! I started with 50 a night, worked up to 200 ..then 400 and now 500. I am seeing some really great results.

Thanks to the guys that run the challenges, I pushed my body and found that I can do it! You guys are great for running these challenges.

Wow, that is truly awesome. I'd like to be up there one day. I started off at 25 in a row and I think I'm up to 145 in a row. But 500? Amazing

Thanks, I pushed myself but feel really great. 145 is great also! My husband complimenting my lack of stomach is really what is spurring me on. Impressing a spouse is really a good feeling...if that makes sense.

That is wonderful Debbie. Amazing actually.
So do you vary the crunches or do one kind mostly?

I have been doing Pilates on and off with a tape. Which has helped strengthen my abs. My routine is as follows:

I work the upper abs by typical crunches - 200 straight. Then I turn to my side and work the side abs - each side 100 straight. I also raise my knees and do crunches - 100 straight. I just added these.

I am trying to work more of the lower abs but just starting! I put my arms on the floor and rocked my legs up (raising my butt off the floor) - these are VERY hard for me so I can only do a few, working up to be able to do more. I end up not really counting these since I have not been able to finish more than 10.

I tried the stability ball but my balance sucks big time. I am going to try and get to it but right now I spend more time rolling around than working anything.

Edit ---- Meant to add that I am typically shaking when I am doing all of these. It is pure determination that pushes me through it

                Debie-
                Thanks for your inspirational story!
You have certainly taken the Abs Challenge and made it your own by working hard, introducing various abs, seeing results, and getting recognized by your husband.
I've regularly done up to 150 in a row, so I know some of what you are doing, but 500 wow! I've done some variety of abs, and your post makes me want to continue to try different ones. Variety helps different parts and keeps you engaged.
                Thanks again! Nice job!
I agree - thanks go out to the ADBB moderators who have created and nurtured these challenges. They have definitely helped me to get into shape!

I think you started adding weights? I think I want to get those in also. Doubt I will be doing 500 with weights..at least for awhile Can you give me some hints on how to step them up somewhat?

I grab a couple 8 lb dumbbells and hold them across my chest as I do 25 crunches.
                    Then 10s, then 12s, etc.
