  • 5 week update!! OMG

    5 weeks in and.........drumroll please...............20.5 gone for EVER!!
    IDr. Atkins!! I just want to thank everyone for the support!! Geez O Petes this is easier than I everthought it could be. Trust me if this works for me it WILL work for you too!! Off to drink some water!!!!

          It feels great!! my goal for this week is 4 pounds so I hope I can get that done. I know it's alot but I plan on walking at least 5 miles a day!!!! Do you think it's even possible?

            Congrats!!!

            Were you asking about walking 5 miles a day or losing 4 pounds in one week? I'm on the "Yes to both" commitee with the amount of weight you've lost and the amount of weight you will continue to lose to reach your goal. Just keep in mind that weight slows and your body adjusts with muscle building. And keep doing what your doing...water and exercise with this daily eating are important for everything you do to reach your goal!

            Have you thought about moving up the OWL rungs? 1st one is more veggies....a person can never have too many veggies (okay, maybe just a little, but they're so good for you!). It's a great time to figure out what carbs your body can handle as you up your exercise, as well. Keep in mind your body needs the fuel...so if you're upping your exercise, tossing in more good carbs will be beneficial

              Thanks Lisa for the great advice, I have thought about moving up to the owl rungs, I am just a little nervous. I like the way everything is working now. I am always satisfied, lots of water, I have no problem sticking to plan and I have tons of energy. I worry that if I start adding more things to my menu I'll mess something up. I know I know it's all in my head, I told myself that I would wait until the 2 month mark. Then I will have to move up. What do you think?

                I totally understand what you're saying. The energy, the feeling of accompishments, and doing great! Many (MANY!) people are very nervous and down right scared to move up the OWL rungs when they're experiencing great losses. Why change something that isn't broken, right?

                Well, there's a lot to Atkins than just Induction, and Dr. A made a point to say that in his book (although the page number escapes me, I did just read about extended induction and moving up the OWL rungs). It's about removing foods, cleaning out your system, adding in exercise, and then adding in foods back in one section at a time to see what your body can actually handle.

                The reality is: you're fixing what was broken in the first place by changing your eating and exercise habits to create this new life style. There's absolutly no harm, no foul in moving up the OWL rungs and seeing how many carbs you can take in and still continue to lose until you can't lose any more. I know, that last part is scary for everyone. Read up on the OWL rungs and decide how you will progress. The OWL rungs are essential to this way of eating for life.

                  I will read up on OWL and I'll do so with an open mind. I"ll eventually move up. I need to get my brain in the right place. Because right now it's thinking that if I put more carbs in my body I'll gain some back. ( I'll die if I see a increase on the scale) On a funny note. I keep having dreams that I am cheating and eating different things like skittles for example......I don't like skittles! Another thing was I dreamt that I went to McDonalds and got an egg mcmuffin (again which I don't eat) and ate the bun!! Boy am I relieved when I wake up and realize that I haven't cheated!!! Can you tell that this is on my mind constantly, I dream about food!!! lol

                        Thanks everyone!! I am hoping for a decent drop next week too, I just wish the weather would cooperate. I'm going to get my walking in today rain or shine!
