  • A workout celebration: personal best

I decided I was being a sissy with my workouts and not pushing myself hard enough. I kept thinking to myself 'if those guys on biggest loser can workout for longer than 30 piddly little minutes so can you"

So I worked out for 2 HOURS today and burned 1592 calories.
And it was totally do-able! I probably wont think so tomorrow when i wake up sore as all get-out, but I did it! I'm going to make it a regular thing too.
Working out two hours a day will now be my minimum. I'm going to keep track of it over in my journal and get my weight and measurements in every week. It'll be a fun experiment for all those people who think working out will bulk you up like a boy. It wont! I want those inches gone asap, and this is how you do it!
For anyone who's seen my whining posts lately, I've been stuck at or gaining the same weight over and over since week 2, and i'm tired of it! Working out makes me feel accomplished and makes those stupid numbers on the scale less important! i'm proud of me.

by the way, I didn't work out all in one sitting, for all you busy people. I did 20 minutes of calisthenics, then 1 hour on my gazelle. then another 40 minutes on the gazelle a few hours later. Soon my 30 day shred video will be here and i'll incorporate that too! this morning i was feeling so blue about the numbers, but after working out i feel so much better about myself!

      right back atcha!

btw for anyone who doesn't have or know what a gazelle is, these things are great for low impact cardio. my knee has been screwed up since x mas. I can barely do a squat with weight on that knee, but I can work up a major sweat on the gazelle with no problems at all!

Re: A workout celebration: personal best

I have been trying to get back in my exercise routine for months. Once I stop, I never want to start up again. Well, I joined a challenge starting tomorrow and I decided to do my own research on Atkins + Exercise (90 days March 30 - June 28 ) for the book I am writing, so I jumped in with both feet yesterday. I sat down and mapped out a very ambitious exercise (torture) plan. Both yesterday and today I got on my recumbent stepper as soon as I got up and before breakfast. I did upper body weights and stability ball core exercises. Today I ramped up the tension on the stepper and did 30 minutes of intervals.

I had to go shop and do some work in the yard, and I can barely walk--or sit down. Ouch! How come the plan always looks so doable on paper?

i'm sure I will be feeling your pain in the morning sunny! The same way this board keeps us accountable, I bet doing research for your book will be more motivation to work out on days you don't want to. I have a hard time working out in the morning, my motivation always comes later in the day, but I think I could get more done if I just did it when I got up and got it out of the way. Maybe I can con myself into doing that tomorrow morning.
I love how working out makes me sleepy. I used to have such a problem getting naturally sleepy. Now when I work out during the day around 9pm i start feeling that wonderful pleasant sleepiness I really dont think i've felt since I was a kid! I might just be weird, but it makes my night time routine more enjoyable. I used to take a hot shower and drink some hot chai tea at night to -get- me to sleep, now it just like... 'aaaaaaaaah!" lol

I had the same thing happen that Sunny described....I upped my bike riding from 10 miles to 15 miles and added additional tension on the bike -- man oh man am I sore today! Bit it feels good to know that those muscles are getting strong and tight. I was tired of having elephant legs!

Good luck to both of you!!

I used to lift heavy weights, and never bulked up a like a boy....people who think that drive me CRAZY!!!

Awesome workout!!! I started working out again this week, going again this morning even though I can still barely get down the stairs....but I know my body, as soon as I start moving, the pain will be gone and I'll have a good workout. I need those endorphins rushing thru me right now!

I'm better this morning, but no stepper before breakfast. I'm only going to lift weights and do some stability ball core.

I have a really long choir practice for the Easter cantata tonight, and I need to be able to stand for close to two hours.

You might as well do it for 90 days and be a part of my research/study. Do you keep track with pictures?
