I enlisted my best friend to go with me to the doctor on Friday because I wanted her to see his face when he saw me.
I haven't been to see him since February. I think I weighed 205 or 210 then. I was wearing a size 14. Today, I'm 168.5 lbs and wearing a size 9 in jeans. He has never ever seen me this "low" and I haven't since junior high or something!
It was great!! I was sitting in a chair waiting for his entrance and he was tongue tied! He demanded I stand so he could get a full view of my success. The standing and posing was followed by several hugs from him. Weird, but NICE!! I told him not to get too excited just yet, as I still wanted to lose about 20 more pounds and I'm not stripper pole worthy just yet!! He disagreed!
He made another joke about whether or not I was using methamphetamine to achieve such great weight loss results. (His office is in another city and county and meth and unemployment are their only claim to fame there. Well, that and his drug rehab operation!)
I NEVER EVER say Atkins to a doctor. Many medical professionals are jaded and believe the stereotypes despite their degrees and PhD's. Leave it to my girlfriend to pipe up and shout out, "She's a diehard. Hardcore on the Atkins diet!" Yaaaaay. Thanks! I gave a speech about the fact I never say the A word to doctors because it's usually followed by ridicule and a lecture. Now, here's the great part. He said, "Hey, here's how I feel about it. It's totally working for you! You're in better health than I've ever seen in 14 years. As far as fad diets go, I honestly believe the low carb option is the absolute best option medically." OMG, did he just say that?? I told him I loved everything he said except the FAD DIET part. I told him I don't use the F-word when referrring to my LIFESTYLE! He agreed but I also know where he's coming from.
He ordered all kinds of blood tests and a urinalysis. I also have to get an EKG somewhere along the line before I go back for all my results. BUT....he was happy happy happy with what he saw and it was great to see him and hear what he had to say! Celebration worthy, indeed!!
