My weight loss has slowed down considerably over the last month or so, so it was nice to actually get a sense of how far I've come when I went clothes shopping the other day...
I start my last year of law school in a couple of days, and need a lot of new clothes after losing almost 50 pounds this summer. I went to my usual store and tried on some 46 and 44 inch waist jeans (I bought mainly 48's for a while, and have some pairs of pants that are 50's). They were all too big. I actually had to move down to a 42, which allowed me to buy a "name brand" pair of jeans for the first time since high school. It's a silly little consumeristic thing, but it made me feel good. Also, a lot of XL shirts now fit me, meaning I could actually buy T-shirts at "regular" stores instead of going to big and tall shops.
I have a long way to go (I still didn't like what I saw in the dressing room mirrors) but I've accomplished a lot in a short amount of time. It was nice to be reminded of that. Thanks to everyone at this board who's helped me out- I'm going to try to post and read more often, as difficult as that will be once school starts.
