  • A "real" pair of jeans

My weight loss has slowed down considerably over the last month or so, so it was nice to actually get a sense of how far I've come when I went clothes shopping the other day...

I start my last year of law school in a couple of days, and need a lot of new clothes after losing almost 50 pounds this summer. I went to my usual store and tried on some 46 and 44 inch waist jeans (I bought mainly 48's for a while, and have some pairs of pants that are 50's). They were all too big. I actually had to move down to a 42, which allowed me to buy a "name brand" pair of jeans for the first time since high school. It's a silly little consumeristic thing, but it made me feel good. Also, a lot of XL shirts now fit me, meaning I could actually buy T-shirts at "regular" stores instead of going to big and tall shops.

I have a long way to go (I still didn't like what I saw in the dressing room mirrors) but I've accomplished a lot in a short amount of time. It was nice to be reminded of that. Thanks to everyone at this board who's helped me out- I'm going to try to post and read more often, as difficult as that will be once school starts.

Congrats! Isn't it great to be able to fit into "normal people" sizes? I got into a couple XL shirts recently too - feels amazing!! I hope you are able to keep in touch, and to keep up with the WOE when you return to school - I remember what I ate in University...no wonder I gained 40 pounds over 5 years!!!

Weigh to go!!!!! It's always fun to go see what size you are in now....just remember you might have different sizes from store to store depending on which country makes their clothing. I can wear anything from a 14 to an 18 depending on where pants are made. I can wear a Large top but prefer an XL for now, I never liked tight fitting clothing and still don't want anything so tight it cuts my breath off.

Keep up the great work -- you're getting closer to your goal!
