    Re: My Little Weight Loss...

I just wanted to say you are doing an amazing job. Do take the time to acknowledge those achievements that you are having such as the seat belt clicking. It is a long road ahead of us and sometimes we feel it may take forever, so those little things just keep us amazed. (I had a similar experience, DH drove the car over the weekend and lowered the steering wheel, normally I would not even be able to get into the car, let alone have the steering wheel that low, guess what, I forgot about it and then realized... OMG! I'm getting smaller and can now fit... it has been 3 days and I'm still on cloud nine about it)... Just keep thinking of all the things we will be able to do and enjoy.

Another thing, the short winded and other things will disappear and you just never know when. My mom (who has 1000 reason she needs to do ATKINS and is not doing so) asked me when I had lost about 60 pounds if my back has quit hurting or if this or that doesn't bother me anymore. I told her No I still have my back pain, ect, but I feel I should continue, what else to do... I was happy to report to her when I lost 70pounds exactly, I realized I have no more back pain!!!! So see even just a 10 pound difference can make all the difference in the world sometimes.

Sorry for rambling... just wanted to wish you well and much success!
    ~Amanda
It is okay if it takes me a little longer to get there, besides this is where I'm going to stay forever and that is a really long time!!!

Thank you Goin.. I couldnt have said it better myself...its such a long long road for me...I am looking forward to going to Vegas in the winter and being able to walk around a little bit without finding a chair after I just entered a Casino.. can you believe I am admiting that???

Also to DC...your right and thank you.. because whenever I have lost weight I always went back to the same crappy way of eating.. and at least I know now that you cant..this is a WOL that will help me maintain..I wish I would have learned the lesson earlier in life!!!!!

              Re: My Little Weight Loss...

Your motivation and your effort is amazing! I know because I've been there and we all know how the victories feel.

Sometimes, Atkins can feel like a lonely WOL when you are among friends and family who do not understand. Most people I know would rather believe I had surgery and would not bat an eye rather than know that I followed the Atkins plan.

Congratulations! This from a person who didn't go into a Walmart or grocery store until I had lost enough not to be breathless before I got to the door. If it is any consolation, I no longer "plan" my walking in measured steps. You will do the same!!!!!!!

When you are alone in your head, you are in a bad neighborhood.

Irish.. your the one who is amazing... I cannot wait for the day I hit my goal weight...sometimes I feel like giving in and not eating for a week.. and other times I feel like mowing down what's in front of me...I totally look forward to the day when I can just live and not worry about where the next chair is or will I be able to make it...Thank you for your kind words.....The Atkins WOL seems to be one plan that most people despise without even knowing what it is....BIG Congrats to you!! I hope I am there where you are now.....

                      Re: My Little Weight Loss...

It really is little things that help keep folks going - realizing that bending over to tie your shoes isn't as awkward as it used to be, that you don't dread walking to the mailbox, that something (anything! LOL!) from the store actually fits, your socks aren't cutting into your legs leaving marks like they used to, your knees or back or hips or feet don't hurt quite as often or as much as they once did, that not having a parking place RIGHT near the door to the store isn't a tragedy anymore, you don't have to wonder about whether you can go somewhere new like a restaurant or the library because you know you can fit in a booth or sit on a standard chair without worrying so much about whether it might not hold you, not having to use the handicap stall in a bathroom because the others are actually big enough for you now, not choosing your next car based on whether there is enough room to get behind the steering wheel, not opting out of visiting someone's house because you worry or know they don't have any place you feel comfortable sitting, etc.

I haven't experienced all of these, but some, and have had friends and a family member or two who have. It is harder than people who haven't been big can imagine because they never have to even think about these things. The more you keep losing, the more you realize how much easier everything seems and how much extra work it has been to try to accomodate all these years.

Congratulations, and keep on keeping on - you'll get there!

Thank you for sharing your inspirational story and all that you've experienced along the way.....you my dear lady are a great inspiration and should be VERY proud of all that you have accomplished. Your determination and spunk in deciding to get healthy and doing this on your own just shows the tenacity and strength you have as a person.

Well done I say and don't let anyone sit there and tell you how much of a crazy way of eating this is. You as well as so many others on this board are living examples that it works and that it is healthy. I agree with Mike, those who bad mouth it don't understand it and do not know enough.

Thank you for taking the time to share your journey with all of us, it means a lot and I appreciate the opportunity to meet and get to know you better through what you have shared.

                              Keep it up!
