  • 15 lbs down in 4 weeks :)

My goal when I started was to try and lose 30 lbs in 8 weeks. Today was the end of my 4th week and I have lost 15 lbs!! So I'm exactly half way on weight and time to reach my first big goal! 4 more weeks, 15 more lbs to go!! Once I hit my 30 lb goal then I plan on moving on to OWL to begin the journey to my final goal of 60-70 lbs lost, which I'm a little nervous about because the first time I did atkins I never moved on, once I hit my goal I just got off Atkins thinking I'd be fine and I quickly gained all the weight back plus more! So this will be my first time doing Atkins the right way and moving on to OWL. This really is a change in lifestyle not a DIET!! I've learned that my body was addicted to carbs and sugar! And I know that to stay healthy and set a good example for my daughter I need to do this for life and teach her the right way to eat and how to balance it from the beginning.

She already exercises with me everyday and she is used to eating sugar free treats

    Thanks for everyones inspiration!!

Your doing awesome!!! About not moving up the rungs, maybe that is why you quit last time, I find moving up the rungs to be helpful, the scales still move and it slowly gets a message out to your brain you CAN eat more carbs and still keep going. Get your mind out of the can't have this, can't have that syndrome. You sound as though you are losing at a good pace, so you are doing something right. Keep it up girl!!

Started this diet on Sun 4/26/09

50 lbs gone on Sun 9/27/09

Well its been over a year now and I am currently on maintenance and still trying to adjust to the "new" ME. No major struggles to report, just livin' day to day.

Wow your stats are really amazing!! Yes once I hit my 30 lbs I'm moving on to OWL I want this to be my WOL forever!! To be able to control it and not go crazy on carbs, for it to be second nature. I can't wait til I hit 140!! Congrats on your success, seeing your stats is even more motivation

              >>4 more weeks, 15 more lbs to go!!>>

Waiting until you reach "goal" to move to OWL isn't how Atkins works.

You should be on pre-maintenance with 5-10 pounds to go.

              >>ecause the first time I did atkins I never moved on, once I hit my goal I just got off Atkins thinking I'd be fine, >>

Seems as if you're repeating a mistake ... why?

I think you may have read my post incorrectly...30 lbs is my first goal, I have about 60-70 lbs to lose, 30 lbs is my first big goal. Also I was saying that since I got off atkins the first time without moving on to OWL I failed and gained the weight back. So what I meant to say was I'm starting OWL once I hit my 30 lbs lost mark to continue on to the 60-70 lbs lost mark. Sorry if you didn't read that right. my whole point was that the first time around I thought I'd get off atkins completely and be able to maintain my loss & now I know that its a lifestyle not a quick fix diet and that is why I plan to move on to OWL once I hit the 30 lb mark. I hope that makes sense. Wasn't planning on getting attacked geeze

Yeah same here, after the intial success from Atkins a couple years ago, i thought i was done and pretty much drifted off. big mistake.... coz atkins is like a cult..... you don't leave Atkins, Atkins leaves you!!!

but seriously, maintenence is extremely important, and once you hit your final goal, you definitely need to sit down and reassess your life. I think the main thing to consider is that if you want to eat the junk again, you must make sure you work your *** off to burn it off, otherwise it's going to cause weight and fat gain again.

oh by the way, how tall are you OP? and when is that pic in your avatar taken from (if you dont mind)? Cuz i have had similar results to you and i am 5'10" male

I'm between 5'7" and 5'8" ha ha depends on my posture LOL That picture was taken last summer, when I hit my 30 lb first goal that is where I will be again. I know that once I hit my final goal I will definitely have to stay on maintenance and be aware of whats going in my mouth, because it was mindless eating that got me here in the first place because when I was in high school I ate whatever I wanted and was super skinny from dancing 5 hours a day, when that ended my eating habits continued. Good luck to you!! Thanks for commenting
