    Hello everyone

    Thank you for this forum

    Just want to share my experience and offer support to anyone who needs a bit of encouragement and if I can be of service I will give whatever I can.

    My story is that I suffer from fibromyalgia /ME/CFS and reumatism and because of this I cannot move much around (exercise) due to massive pain and because the illnes is progressive and gets worse after pysical activity.

    Some months ago I thought that I better check my weight and I got a huge chock ! 98,5 kilos !! I am 47 and I am 1.69 tall. I think that I weigh appx 30 kilos too much

    However I havent been down on my ideal weight for 15 years or so - so to be realistic I sat a goal to loose 20 kilos. I have to say my motivation and desicion / determination was maximum. The timing wasnt that good being close to christmas and new years - but what can you do. Enough was enough and i just felt that it was now or newer. I went through Christmas without failing the diet - so I am very proud of myself

    The good news is that I have now been 8 weeks on the diet and I already lost 11 kilos !!!! 24,2 Lbs.

    I havent been able to loose weight for so many years so I am really really really happy !

    Everyday I loose between 50 and 300 grams )))

    The only thing that is kind of weird is that my ketone strips at the moment is fairly light. (moderate). A month ago they were dark purple and I noticed the colour got even darker after the doctor gave me a injection with prednisolon for my reumatism....

    So...at the moment the strips are light in colour but I still loose weight...?!?

    Can anyone shed light on this maybe ?

    Congratulations!

    I would really recommend that you move to OWL.

    The color of the sticks is unimportant.

      Can I ask you. What is OWL?

      I am still on induction. Since it works for me I am reluctant to change

      Can you also maybe tell me how alcohol affects the diet. I havent had a drink since I started and not that I really miss it. But a night like tonight It would have been nice to be able to I know that wine/beer etc. is a no go. But how about whisky or something like that without soda?

        I just found out what is OWL. I just feel uncertain to do it because I am so happy that I am actually loosing the fat so i am afraid it will stop:-/

          Are you reading "Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution" (2002)?

          Alcohol isn't allowed on Induction.

          When you have alcohol in your system, your body will burn the alcohol for fuel ... so you will NOT be burning fat.

          Wine that isn't sweet is fairly low carb. It's not a "no go".

          OWL = Ongoing Weight Loss

          It's the phase of Atkins where you lose the weight. Induction isn't about losing weight ... it's about getting your body ready to lose the weight.

          If you want to be successful, not just at losing, but at keeping the weight off, you need to do all the phases of Atkins ... and that includes OWL.

          Ask yourself this (along with the other questions in Chapters 12 and 13 of the book) ... how is eating more Induction vegetables going to hurt?

              I am reading that book, but in Danish since I am from Denmark.

              Ok I C. Well I have lost 11 kilos on Induction so 4 me it was also about loosing weight. But I know what you mean. I also know that I can personally newer go back to bread, pasta & white sugar etc. But I dont mind.

              OK I will do that. Looks like 5 grams added carbs/veggies a week is the way to do it. I will try it and C what happends. Thanks again.

              Well I dont feel vegetables can hurt me since I LOVE them....but I thought that I wasnt allowed to eat more that 20 grams of carbohydrates a day. Only thing I actually miss on this diet is fruit:-/. Thankyou for taking time to answer me
