    Re: 1 month Anniversary

Alright, I am not a happy camper! Stepped on the scale this morning and I gained two pounds. So Net weight loss is 9 pounds in over a month. Stopped at Mcdonalds on the way to work this morning and was about to order pancakes, hash browns, orange juice, one of those mcgriddle things and whatever else had a starch in it, but I got halfway to the counter and walked out.

My foods are right on target, my ratios are perfect, I am eating only allowed induction foods, I make all of my own food to guarantee no hidden carbs, I am taking my supplements, I am exercising, I am drinking my water and I don't have the slightest clue as what to do next. I have given up my beloved coffee, my friend soda and my dear alcohol. My wife kept saying that it was probably muscle, but you can only gain one pound of muscle per two weeks and I should have lost fat pounds to counteract that weight gain IF that was the problem.

I will post my fit day menu on this thread if anyone can find an error, I am all ears!

    Hope this works:

Ok, I have come off my ledge a little bit and I have read over all the advice you provided last week. After looking at my fitday journal much closer, it looks like I may be getting too many of my carbs from non-veggie sources and not getting enough carbs in general. I will move into OWL rung 1 this week and see what happens.

By the way, I never ackknowledged Andreliluc's comments and I wanted to say thank you for your support and advice. Let's see what happens this week!

          Re: 1 month Anniversary

Just a quick update on my situation and the effect of your advice.....

So, after working with all of you on this thread and on this site, I raised my net carbs to 25 grams, almost all from vegetables, for the past three days and I have been watching the scale very closely. As of this morning, I have gained a significant amount of energy and lost three pounds on Monday and Tuesday alone!!!!

Now, I know watching the scale is not recommended and that things could change quickly, but with all of the tweaking that I am doing to this diet, it felt necessary. By the way, when I felt the difference in my energy level, I just knew something was different. I will make my official results known on Monday when I have my "official weigh-in," but I think we may have found the answer to my stall in weight loss!

Glad to hear you are getting back on track. Only had a minute to look at your fitday, need to run to town. I noticed you say 2 on your avacado, do you mean you had 2 servings or 2 avacados? You are limited to 1/2 an avacado a day. Also I see sausage, are you making it yourself or buying it at the store. Most at the store has sugar in the seasoning. Be sure to check that close.

Everyone has different stall triggers. May take some trial and error but you'll get it figured out. Don't give up. We are all here to support you.

              Re: 1 month Anniversary

              Poobears1972,

Yes, I am eating 2 avocados per day. I know.....not allowed. The first day that I had 2 avocados was on Monday when I was having problems getting my net carbs high enough through veggies and wanted to also keep my fat ratio near 60%. I knew it was not normal, but with a two week stall I thought I would take the chance and see what happened. I was ready for the weight gain mentally if it happened, but.......then I had a huge surge of energy and had 2 more the next day. Feeling wonderful, I stepped on the scale on Wednesday, when I usually only weigh in on Mondays and I had lost 3 pounds. I have moved to OWL rung 1 and the avocados, along with other changes, has really helped me move forward.

Monday I will report the reuslts and get everyones advice whether it was a good move or a bad move. I know the rules of this diet need to be followed closely, but I wanted to try a few things to see if they helped my situation. I take everyones advice very seriously and I don't want you to think that I am not considering your advice. I know I may regret it, but I am still an Atkins "teenager" and I am being a little rebellious.

The sausage is Bob Evan's Zesty Sausage and I could not find sugar in the nutritional facts on any website. The carb count is 1 for 2 oz. and the package is 6 oz. That is a small carb count and I only eat about 2 oz. per week. Should be ok, right?

Avocados are not vegetables though ... and don't count towards your vegetable carbs.

                    Re: 1 month Anniversary

Looking at your vegetable carbs for TODAY (and yesterday), you only have broccoli and mushrooms.

You really need to branch out on the vegetables ... there's 55 of them.

I would recommend you use the entry for "eggs, whole, raw" rather than the fried ... since the carb count for Fitday's "fried" is higher than it needs to be due to unknown added ingredients. You should use the raw entry for food whenever possible.

I'm far from an expert but your sausage looks good to me. I dont' see any sugar and the sugar is listed as 0. I haven't been able to find sugar free sausage around here. Might have to look for that for DH.

I think a lot want to do some tweaking and see if they can make the diet better. But when I look at the amazing results here by people that followed it to a T, I figure it must be about perfect already LOL

                        Re: 1 month Anniversary

Just an update, most of you have seen my recent posts, but I wanted to update this post to let everyone know that after moving to OWL rung 1 and adding 10 net carb veggies, I have lost six pounds since Monday......and its only Friday. Thanks for the help.

Atkinsgal08, I completely agree about the vegetables and the avocados, I just don't like many of the ones allowed on the list and avocados really help me meet my potassium levels, fat ratio and net carb amounts. I enjoy peppers, mushrooms, broccoli, cauliflower, cucumbers and thats about it.......ideas?

What are the best veggies for OWL rung 1/bloodsugar? I don't want to add anything that will spike my bloodsugar. Tomatoes?

By the way, what are avocados if they are not vegetables? Animals Are they fruits like tomatoes? Then are tomatoes allowed?

                        Happy eating!

                          Poobear,

I agree thatthe diet is wonderful when done correctly. When I say tweaking, I mean "me" learning how to execute the diet correctly. Even after reading the book I don't feel like Ihave full grasp of this WOE. Just look at atkinsgal08's comments, I have been doing this for over a month and she still finds way to make me feel inadequate Just joking atkinsgal08, your advice has been incredible.

So, "tweaking" is my term for making changes to execute this WOE correctly. By the way, what does DH stand for in your last post?

Last night I cut up some steak into fajita size pieces, lightly seasoned it with garlic salt, cooked it up in a pan with a little canola oil. Tossed in some diced jalepenos, tomato, bell pepper and onion. Kind of like a stir fry. It was very good and it's a an easy way to get in a few veggies without them really tasting like veggies.

Keep working at it, it'll become clearer. Glad you moved on to OWL. I stalled on week three (extended Induction). I was convinced to move to OWL and lost 5 Lbs over the next two weeks.

Yes, avocado's are a fruit. Tomatoes are a legal vegatable on Atkins, although it is obviously a fruit, the U.S. Government declared it a vegitable years ago for importing tax reasons. Go figure...

Jalapeno poppers are a great way to add veggies for to your program. I'm gonna make a pan full for Superbowl Sunday. Simply halve the Jalapeno's, de-seed them, fill with cream cheese, wrap w/half a slice of bacon and bake in over for 20 minutes in a 375 degree oven.

Restarted Dr Atkins Diet January 2 2010.
Next mini goal is to get under 300 lbs. Done! 3/8/10
Next mini goal is to make it three months without alcohol. Started 1/1/10 Done!
