I have always failed every diet I have been on. I would lose a nice chunk of weight, then fall off the wagon, then blame the diet and never get back on it again. Then of course gaining everything back plus 50 more. When I started this wol back in June of 2009, I thought ok if I lose 50 pounds then its going to work for me. Well I hit 50 pounds in Sept. Then I thought ok if this wol really really works then I will lose a 100 pounds. Today is the day that I hit 100 pounds!!!! I really don't like number goals or mini goals because it puts too much pressure on me. I like to see the little things that come with weight loss. Being able to walk longer distances, perhaps an outfit in the closet that fits or being able to wear regular size bangle bracelets!! I want to express my biggest accomplishment and the thing I am most proud of to date. Back in February we decided to go to Vegas for Valentine Day weekend. You see I was there the year before. The minute I got to the hotel registration, I was looking for that chair to rest on. By the time we walked to our room. I had to lay down for a few minutes. It was really rough for me at 400 pounds. This time however with a little weight loss I knew it was going to be so much better. The monday before we were leaving, I started cheating. By the time Friday came I had already put on 12 pounds. The Monday after Vegas, I was 25 pounds up!!! I thought OMG what am I going to do. You see the old me would have stayed off the diet and gained everything back and more. Well I forgave myself and went right back on the diet. It was a huge struggle. I read a post here from I believe, Chinadoll, Jill, she had been having some problems, and she stated that she upped her Atkins calories. I really want to thank her because I decided to do that. Well it worked, it took 3 weeks but I dropped those 25 pounds!! and then a couple of weeks later I am at my 100 pound loss. I really learned that long periods of cheating isnt worth it. I know I can't really motivate anybody or offer good advice yet, because its a long constant struggle for me. But I think with the help of exercising, this board and a desire to do it, it has gotten me this far. Thank you everyone on these boards...

Re: 100 Pounds Gone!!!
First let me say.....
CONGRATULATIONS
What a wonderful testimony to this WOL. I will strongly disagree with you when you say...based on 100 pound weight loss, going through a major cheat but not giving up, learning to eat more, the necessity of exercise.......I know I can't really motivate anybody or offer good advice yet, because its a long constant struggle for me
I'd say great motivation and advice.

Re: 100 Pounds Gone!!!
Well, hopefully we never fall off, that would be great, but the lesson to be learned and spread, as you did so well, is that a "slip" should not be the road to FAILURE. Get back on as soon as you can, otherwise it is likely to take months, years, or never, getting back on board.Originally posted by Browneyedmelly View PostOMG Mission.. seriously that's why I posted that long story, never in a million years have I hopped back on a diet or a wol before.. This is the first eating plan I have ever followed so long and I have been 150% committed. Fortunately, I have not fallen off, just had two interruptions with the flu, but besides that, I have been on plan. It is a natural way of life for me now. As much as I used to love ALL kinds of desserts and bakery and pastries, (I am a pretty good cook and self taught baker), I can really say I do not get tempted when I see those past treats, even when they are right in my face while others eat them.
I can go to a restaurant and eat a filling, delicious, Atkins friendly meal. I have been "converted".
I can eat at Family gatherings, it may require me to bring a few things to share that are Atkins friendly, but that is how it is now. This is how I eat, and I am very comfortable with it. As other have said, it used to be a diet, but not it is my lifestyle.
Keep up the good work, and please come here often if you need help!!!259/206/149

Re: 100 Pounds Gone!!!
Mission..I honestly have learned, that I know that this is going to be my wol now as well...If I would have learned that concept when I was younger about gettting back on as soon as I can.. I would have never gotten up to 404...I love these boards.. I come all the time when I am feeling down in the dumps... I have read your journal about the place you go to exercise, which sounds fantastic...I hope one day I can inspire someone....

Re: 100 Pounds Gone!!!
Wow that is wonderful.
I am very proud of you. So many people are not able to do what you did or struggle a lot with it.
And yes you ARE an inspiration.
Personally though I admire those perfect people who do everything right always, I find far more inspiration in people who go through the hoops and make it to the other side. Because that is the kind of person I am too. There are hoops and hickups along the way.

Re: 100 Pounds Gone!!!
Congratulations!!!!! You have done awesome!!! Doesn't that 100 lbs lost feel great????
As for the cheating, chalk it up to lesson learned, something I've also learned the hard way several times myself. This is a way of eating for life, for all times, even on vacation, under stress, whatever. There is no going back to the old way of eating. It's all about a new way of eating forever. I've yet to find any situation where I couldn't eat right, even on vacation now.
Sounds like you did the right thing in recognizing what you did and getting back on track. Good for you! Just keep it up and remember this for the next time you're tempted.Start date: 2/22/04 347/222/135 ~ 5'2"

Are you kidding???Originally posted by Browneyedmelly View Post...I know I can't really motivate anybody or offer good advice yet...
Your post is EXTREMELY motivating. We all slip and fall at some time in our life, be it this WOE or anything else. The measure of a person isn't based on if they fall. It's how they get up, brush themselves off and get on with their life.
You've done an awesome job. You should be proud. Congatulations!
Keep up the great work.PBK - M/45/6'3"
