  • One year of Atkins

Today is my one year anniversary of starting (actually re-starting) Atkins! I have made it a year, feel I am going strong and trying to decided where my goal is exactly. I know I am CLOSE. It is more a size and a feeling than a certain weight. I am also working more on fitness and toning (and inches I hope) than weight.

I started at 183lbs a year ago and this morning I was 128.1 lbs. I have lost 8.5 inches from my waist, 8 inches from my hips, and 7 in off my thighs (just a few measurements). I have gone from a size 18 to about a size 6 (I have a couple of size 8's and a couple of size 4's...gotta love these clothing manufacturer's).

I can't believe what I have accomplished in a year. It doesn't happen overnight but in the great scheme of things, one year of my life seems pretty short too.

Thanks for the forum and all the helpful friends here. I never could have done this without you. Sorry I don't have before/after pics. I never got in front of the camera before and would have to do some serious digging to find something.

I feel that I need to keep going strong and not let my guard down because the journey isn't over. Premaintenance is just as much of a challenge for me.

I'm thrilled for you!!! However did you get that marvelous waist size reduction??? I was also 36 pre Atkins and despite losing from 159.6 to 126.6 today!!!..my waist size is still a (choking) 30 in. and pants a (choking)10 in the waist but HUGE through the hips and legs. Do you do any special waist exercises. I'm willing. (I'm ancient so perhaps that is part of the problem).

For some reason, I seem to lose weight in my upper body the most. I don't do anything special, it just happens. I am a classic "pear" shape. I have much harder time losing it on my lower half. Its hard for me to find pants that fit because if it fits my hips, it is too big in my waist. I thought it would get better by losing weight but it doesn't. I am hoping exercise will help.
