  • So...here I am

    My name is Daniel.
I am 33, about to turn 34, years old. I have spent just about my whole life overweight. With the exception of loseing 130 pounds 8 years ago. I have to admit i couldnt remember ever feeling that good. And it was thanks to a really small young lady that had told me about Atkins. I thought it was a bit strange sounding at first but she began to relate her struggle with weight. It worked for her so I jumped on board to this new way of eating, it was new to me. I went from 315 to 185 in less than 6 months. I was doing ALOT of walking at the time. I love the mountains. I kept the weight off for 2 years. I decided it was time to make another change.

I had to quit smoking. This is where it changed. I started to go astray, little by little. Then compound that with the loss of my dad and later a friend. I let go. Years later I sit here in a state of depression, pain and confusion. I am now 440 pounds. Funny thing is, everyone in my life tells me how I can lose the weight. But I have always known how to do it. It has just been hard to get started for some reason. But I have decided that I am tired of it. I cant even go out to check my mail without my back hurting. Anyway, I am here because I feel the number one thing that kept me going 8 years ago was the support my friend Kelly gave me, I am here to ask for your help. I know its possible. Today is the two week point of the induction phase. I made it this far, so...here I am.

Welcome! I'm one of those people that had gotten to my goal, and then slipped and fell (hard) and gained back all my weight and then some. Don't feel like you are alone! We're all reaching for the same goal. Glad you found this forum. So many kind people here. We'll look forward to lots of posts from you. Please come check out the Century Club, for folks who have 100 pounds or more to lose.

Looking forward to getting to know you!

    Take care, and happy Atkineer-ing

    Teresa

        Daniel, welcome to the board!

I'm so glad you found us. With support and motivation you find here, you will absolutely meet all of your goals.

I agree, check out the century club. The people there can relate to heavyweights because they've all been there. We have several who are/were over 500 pounds, as well as 400 pounders and 300 pounders. Nobody can relate to the issues at those levels than someone who has been there.

Best of luck! I look forward to watching you shrink.
        Jim

Welcome Daniel. The great thing about the ADBB site is that we are all in the same boat. Our weight has become an issue that is keeping us from living life to its fullest and being as happy as we could be.

Everyone here is fantastic when it comes to encouraging you to stick to the WOE and gives lots of motivation to get healthy. It helps to have others who understand what you are going through and accept you for who you are. I don't believe I'd ever felt like that until I came here.

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress. Everyone wants to see you succeed and become a big loser. :icondance
