  • Hi!

Hi everyone! I just stumbled across the ADBB this morning and I am psyched to see the range of discussions going on! I hope it will be a great support for me as I become a new me!

My name is Melissa nd I am a 23/F/Boston. I did do Atkins for about 4 months 2 years ago, but a move and a new job kind of got me off track ( it's hard to make good food then you are waiting for a new oven to be delivered!) I lost about 40 lbs during that time, so I know this works for me.

I started Atkins for the second time, this past Monday, May 30, 2005 at an embarassing 262 lbs. This is definitely the heaviest I have ever been, but I am lucky enough to carry my weight well, so the fact I gained so much never really bothered me....until I tried to go running last weekend. I could barely make it 1 mile and was quite disappointed in myself as I used to be quite the athlete just a few short years ago. I have set a goal weight of 150 lbs for my 5-7 frame.

I haven't taken an official measurements of myself since I started ( weight on the same scale I weighed in a start weight for) but I am pretty sure I have lost about 5 lbs and I certianly feel a whole lot better. I have been in Ketosis since Wednesday morning and hope to stop checking myself twice a day soon!

I also just joined a gym and I am looking forward to sweating off the pounds this summer.

So that's me in a nut shell! Feel free to say hi!

      Hi Melissa,

WELCOME>>> :wave You've definitely come to the right place to get healthy and lose the weight. I started Atkins March 2004 at 285 pounds.

Atkins has been a life-saver for me -- I've learned to eat, exercise and changed my attitude towards myself and others. Being overweight kept me from participating in life and enjoying my friends and family. Now I have the energy and self confidence to go out and do things.

Best wishes, enjoy the fourms, participate in the challenges and discussions often to keep motivated. If you have any questions, just ask. There are always a multitude of people willing to help.
      Starting Date 3/12/04 285/165/145 - F

        Welcome to the board, Melissa!

It's good to see another Bostonian on the board (transplanted or not). I actually live south of the city now, but I've got relatives all over the city. There are several of us on the board from Massachusetts.

You've found a great place here for support and motivation.

        Good luck!
        Jim
