  • Back in the saddle !

I was diagnosed with diabetes almost 3 months ago and went through all the wonderful classes and gyrations the Diabetes Educators put you through when they get their hands on you. I was put on actos and metformin (glucofage) and my blood sugars came down to 160 - 200. I put on some water weight and felt miserable! One morning a week ago I simply decided that I wasn't going to take this anymore and I quit my meds and began eating the Adkins way ... The next morning my blood glucose was lower than it had ever been while on meds ... 136. I have not ben above 140 since then and my lowest was 113. I am only a week into this but I feel better than I have in months ! The water weight has come off (a side effect of actos is water retention) and I can evenmove better. My legs don't swell up and ache anymore and I am an Adkins for Lifer.

    Welcome to the board!

You'll have to check out the diabetes forum, if you haven't already. Several people have got their diabetes under control with this way of eating.

    Good luck!
