  • introduction to me

My name is Karen and I am 50 years old. I started a diet on March 28, 2004 and after five weeks switched to Atkins on Mother's day, 2004. I have made the decision to make this a Way of Life. My weight loss to date is 97.5 pounds. I am a true believer in the Low Carb lifestyle. Yes I miss some of the old foods that made me fat. But I also have finally accepted that if I want to
keep the weight off for good I have to stay away from them. I have found new
food favorites in things that are acceptable for a low carb lifestyle. I have adjusted receipes to make them legal for this WOE.

I still have about fifty more pounds to lose. My loss has slowed down and I have been on a plateau for about two months. That is ok with me, since I have the rest of my life to get there. I am now wearing a size 12, down from a 24-26. I am in better shape than I have been in 20 years. I am smaller today than I was when I got married.

This is the first time in my life I know I can stick with an eating plan. I thank God for leading me to this program.
    God bless
    Karen

Hi Karen: I'm Susan, and you have done a FANTASTIC job in your weight loss with Atkins. In your case, no one can say your age has slowed your weight loss down. You must be so proud of yourself for having lost so much weight. You go girl, I can see you've got this diet licked and are on your way losing that other fifty pounds. CONGRATULATIONS.

        Re: introduction to me

For the first year or so I walked with a friend for about an hour. I used a
pedometer to keep my heartrate in a target zone.

My husband has been sick the last few months which has made exercise almost
impossible. That probably is part of my plateau.

I do have before and after pictures but I am not computer savy and don't know how to attach to this list.
