  • Here and proud of it

Hello all!!!! I would just like to say that reading all of your stories are so motivating. I am proud of you all.

I too, am overweight. 55lbs to be exact. And I know that with all of your support, I will meet my goal. This is my first time on atkins and I am on day 5. I have not weighed myself since I started, and probably will not until the 14 days have passed. I tend to get discouraged. So, I will let you all know how it goes.

By the way, can you eat atkins bars during the induction phase? I have been craving chocolate so bad!!

Welcome hmf to Atkins! And to

For best results do a strict induction and that does not include Atkins bars. Do you have a copy of Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution? That will tell you exactly how to follow the plan. Only eat off the iduction list of foods for a minimum of the 2 weeks of induction. This will give you the best start to your new WOE.

Also it is a very good idea to take your measurements to show your progress. Sometimes the scales wont show a loss but you will be losing inches galore so dont fret if the metal monster isnt dropping numbers as fast as you would like. It is the inches that people see not the number on the scale.

    Happy low carbing!!

You can eat the bars on Induction, but I know that this is a recent development and if you read the Atkins Revolution book, Dr. Atkins says not to eat anything that is not on the acceptable foods list. These are not. I believe that Atkins manufacturers have made them to be induction friendly, but they stall a lot of people. I have been on Atkins for almost 4 weeks, and haven't had a problem with them, but that could just be me. I also know that a lot of people don't like the taste, but I don't mind them. The best 3 for me have been, Chocolate Coconut, Chocolate Peanut Butter, and Chocolate Mocha Crunch. The carb count on them is 2 - 3 grams. Personally though, I would use them as a snack or eat one for breakfast if you need something low carb to eat, since they are almost like a supplement bar (I believe), I wouldn't use them as a dessert.
As a fellow chocolate lover, I feel your pain, but my chcolate cravings went away about two weeks in, and I can honestly say that I don't really miss it anymore!

You can eat the bars but after being on this web site for over 2 years I've learned it gives people trouble. I would save them for an "emergency" if you get stuck with absolutely nothing else to eat. I wouldn't make them part of your regular diet.

        Welcome to the site!

Welcome!!! My first pieces of advice is to read the book, and read all of the stickies in the main forum and the 14 day induction forum. These stickies offer A LOT of helpful information and will answer a lot of your questions. Good luck to you and post often!

              Welcome to the board!

You'll get all the support an motivation you could need right here. As far as the bars go, what everyone has said is true. But I'll add one caveat, one of the main points of this plan is to learn how to eat properly, what foods are issues, portion control, etc. The bars don't help teach that, just keep that in mind if you decide to use them.

              Good luck!
