  • Overcoming obstacles...

    Hi all,
I am new to this forum, but not new to Atkins. I started an Atkins lifestyle about 4 years ago and lost weight like crazy...about 65 pounds in 4 months...went off to Australia for a year and came home managed to maintain quite well through all that. But then my eating habits and exercise routines went to **** when I had back surgery last March. Within weeks, I had somehow broken 2 of the screws they put in and lived in extreme pain with no ability to exercise either, until just this past March, where I again went through back surgery to repair the screws and have been in a complete body brace for the past 3 months. I have been on induction for those 3 months and have not been able to lose a single pound...in fact, I'm really up about 5 pounds overall in the past 3 months.
Because I was so easily successful the first time round, I was really hoping Atkins would get me back on track this time, but so far it's been really tough. I joined this forum looking for advice and strategies in dealing with obstacles to my weight loss...here's hoping!

    Welcome to the board!

Wow, you've had a rough go of it. Does the body brace really restrict movement, becuase if so your caloric needs are gonna be way down. So even if you are doing a strict induction, it's possible that you are overeating, soley based on your lower activity level. How much longer do you need to be in the brace?

I hope things get better and the weight starts to move.

    Good luck!
    Jim
