Hi,
I've been lurking for a while and started Atkins for the 4th? time. Two years ago I lost about 20 lbs, but then i had to be on a high dose of Steroid treatment, which didn't even treat what it was supposed to. Anyway, i gained the weight back plus 25 more lbs during that time...this medication really made me crazy in more ways than one. I lost the 25lbs by going on Atkins once again, but I didn't stick with it. Here I am again with determination and good willpower.
I'm so thrilled to find this wonderfully supportive forum. I lost 14 lbs during induction, which is amazing, since i tend to lose weight slowly. I no longer have cravings (but getting off the chocolate merry-go-round was tough) and i'm barely hungry in between meals which is an enormous blessing. I started exercising after about 8-10 days and my energy level is becoming terrific!
I'm sticking to this WOL even if i don't continue to lose all that quickly...the energy level boost, and lack of cravings are enough to keep me motivated, but that 14 lb whoosh is keeping me inspired anyway. No franken foods or sugar substitutes for now either.
My kids are finished with camp and still have another month at home. "Camp Mom" is having a bit of trouble on 'baking day' because it's hard not to taste fresh baked cookies...but so far i've been okay with this challenge.
Kudos to those of you who have written those straight-talk motivating posts (stickies?) They're keeping me motivated and on track!

Red! It's very nice to have you here out of lurk mode! Lol! Have you checked out the Stac (second time around club) forum? They've got some great support in there for people who have started Atkins again. We also have exercise challenges to help keep you motivated. Sounds like you're doing great! Keep your 2002 edition of DANDR handy, it's a great reference guide. And remember you don't have to have willpower to be successful...just the ability to make the right choices and you sound like a smart chickadee so I'll be looking forward to hearing from you often!
The ADBB Gallery is realatively new but there's some great before and afters in there! Again...welcome aboard!
