I have several questions. I am new at this and I need some help. How do I generate a new post topic and how do I get the ticker tape on my name. I am lost on how to get around on this website. Now, my big problem! I have been doing Atkins Induction for about a month. I was in keytosis and recently am not, according to the strips. I have been very strict on this and not sure what has gone wrong. I have recently introduced a few things off the induction, pork rinds (why cant you have them on induction if they have zero carbs)? I have really watched my caffeine intake but have also been drinking diet coke w/splenda. I also have eaten a few of the atkins bars but only 2 grams of carbs?) The only other thing is I may have gone a little over the cream or cheese amounts allowed on induction. But not horribly bad? I am really confussed and need to get back in kekytosis, need help desperately. I have lost around 10 pounds. I am now at 245 and my goal weight is 170, at this rate I will never make it. Pleae help!

Hi Dynaglider...I am fairly new here myself...but I do know what the others are going to say on some of the things. Try cutting out the diet coke and the Atkin bars as they have been known to cause stalls in some people. See if that makes a difference. Also did you take your measurements...because sometimes even if the scale is not moving you are still losing inches...this is particularily true if you are exercising I think. And of course...have you bought the book? Don't get discouraged...and stick to the plan.Elsie150

I agree with Elsie, the Atkins basr might not be a good idea and they are not for induction. Hop over to the induction forum, there are some stickies for you to read. Read the book, post a menu in the according forum to have the folks have a look on them. I am sure we can help you
How much water do you drink? Do you eat all your green veggies?

I won't be so kind about the bars.
They're garbage. Dump them. There's no such thing as mythical, magical carbs that don't count (You KNEW it was too good to be true, right?!). Sugar alcohols absorb more slowly, but they DO absorb. You're not getting just 2 grams of carb from those things, you're getting the full amount, it's just hitting your bloodstream slower, and yep - that'll cause you the problem you're having. Besides, we're supposed to be learning how to rely on whole, real foods - and you need a degree in chemical engineering to pronounce the ingredients in those bars! ~~shiver~~
Diet coke? Well, you're only allowed 3 servings of sweetener a day, if you're docking your Diet Coke w/ Splenda from that amount, you're okay.
Pork rinds are fine on induction (they're fried pork skin), but you should keep it to 1-2 ounces a day. They're calorically dense and they're really high in sodium.
A "little" over on the cream cheese and cheese doesn't tell us much - what's a "little" to you? Does that mean an ounce or two occasionally or does that mean a few ounces often?
If you'd give us a detailed menu - everything you're putting in your mouth and how much, we'll be better able to help and make suggestions. How much water are you drinking a day? Are you taking supplements/medications? What are you doing for exercise - and how long and how often?

WOW such great advice from all of you. Thank you so very much. I am sorry i am slow to respond, I dont get onthe computer as afoten as I like and I am still trying to navigate this site, it is a bit overwhelming for me. Ok first to try to answer all the questions. I drink at east 3 liters of water a day. I am now down to i glass of diet coke/splenda a day. NO more bars, or sugar alcohol! I also frink only I cup of coffee a day now. I am keeping a journa of food on Fit Day, I believe anyone can view it? I did not take measurements, guess I need to do that. I started Atkins on 7/18/05 weighing in at 255 to date 8/28 I am at 240. I need some help in putting my beginning weight in and here I am to date, I tried the thicker thing but couldn't figure out how to copy it over. Do i just put this in my signature? I am not excercising at all. I hate it. NOt sure how to start, guess just get out there and start walking. I have very bad knees, back etc., and jogginfg would do me in. (here those excuses, I do!) Where does it say only (3) servings of Splenda? I do have the book and have read it now twice in its entirety. Can't find that one. Now for the pork rinds, I can have them? THey are not on the Induction food list? I am still trying to stay on induction. My goal weight is 160, at this point. I may go further once I get there. I am so tired of being overweight. I know there are no quick fixes, I need you folks and your support so very much. Over on chees well I believe you are to have 3-4 ounces a day and I have maybe 6-8. I am bored with my food. Meat cheese eggs, BLAH! I am currently not taking supplements, any suggstions on that? Just a daily multi purpose vitamin? Again..I am still new to this but will put my two cents in just the same. LOL!
Congrats on losing 15 pounds! Good for you for cutting back on the diet pop and coffee! These can sometimes stall people. Please keep in mind that you really did not have a clean induction because of the Atkin bars. And you are still not having one because of the 6-8 oz of cheese you are having daily. If I were you I would maybe commit myself to a clean induction for two weeks...keeping in mind that you have already dropped weight the way you have been eating so you may not get the big first week lose like most do OR I would give serious consideration to moving out of what you term 'induction' and going up the rungs. That way you will have more food choices available to you. Also...you said "Meat cheese eggs, BLAH!" I really hope that is not all you are eating. Those 3 cups of vegies are a MUST!!
