  • I'm new here and you are a great bunch of people!

    I posted earlier at the end of a thread that wasn't going so well, so I thought it would be good to start fresh and introduce myself;

    First, there is a lot to take in on this site, I've been reading for a few hours, and feel like I'm part of a really great group of people who have a wealth of information to share. I originally started Atkins back in 2003 and lost 40 pounds . . . I let life's trials and tribulations side track me, I gained 26 pounds of the 40 back . . . but I'm back on track, restarting this week (day 5 about to end!)

    I'm in ketosis, but I really need to get serious about excercise . . . although I walk home from work everyday (1.5 miles) I know that is just a drop in the bucket, so I'm planning on going to the library tomorrow (Portland, OR) and see what kind of aerobic videos they have . . . any suggestions?

    Feels great to be back in the saddle

    Hi Pam! I live just down I-5 from you in Canby. Nice to see another Oregonian here! Have you checked out STAC? They're all second, third, fourth and so on back on Atkins. Also, a journal might be good for you. Helps to keep people motivated and for people like me helps to get my thoughts organized. As for exercise dvd's and video's there is a lot of talk about Slim in 6 and people loathe the woman on it so it must be good! lol! I've actually heard a lot praise about it. Also Walk Away the Pounds. If Brook sees this she'll probably have tons of recommendations! I'm so glad you've found us and welcome to

      Hi Welcome to the Atkins site. This is definitely the best place to come for support and motivation as you lose weight and get healthy. Everyone here is devoted to sharing ways that we stay on our Atkins plan regardless of life's trials and tribulations.

      I could never have lost the weight by myself, I owe it all to Atkins and the wonderful people here to cheered me on and gave me lots of advice.

      Best of luck and be sure to keep us posted on your success!!

        Rhonda, Becky ~ thanks for saying hi! You are both a huge inspiration with your weight loss, WOW . . . I moved to Portland 11 months ago from Eugene (which I still miss very much) for a better job, things have been tough, but I know getting healthy again will help my coping powers immensely.

        This site is a little bit intimidating; are people loyal to one group, or do you read and reply to posts from all the forums? There are so many posts, it's difficult to pick ones that would be the most helpful in the beginning . . . any suggestions would be most welcome.

        Pictures to be posted as soon as I can figure out the camera

          It was to me too at first, now it feels like a second home. I've always clicked on "New Posts" when I log in. I like to read as many threads as I can. I think for you STAC and the Main Atkins forums might be good for you to pay extra attention to for now until you feel more comfortable. There are so many helpful forums it's hard to pick only a few! Lol! I'm sure there are more that would be of great use to you though. Snoop around!

          Looking forward to those pictures!
