  • And Away we Go!!

Hi I am TNDeb. I live in the Memphis area and need to lose 100+. I am married with one stepson who is no longer at home. So, I have no "I don't have time excuses" to not diet, exercise, and get myself back in shape. I can barely remember what that feels like. I am now 44 and the last time I felt "in shape" was age 25. That tells you how long its been since I've really felt good about myself. Right now, I am an office manager, which means I spend most of my days sitting in front of the computer or sitting in meetings , which translates to thunder thighs and an ample behind. I earned my degree in Psychology last year, and I know my weight has held me back in pursuing a new career in this field. I have limited myself and my potential because I am afraid of what people will think of me. I am afraid to walk through the door for interviews because of my size. I am now in the process of earning my real estate license and I don't want to be the "fat" agent. I want to look cute and pulled together like all the agents I see in the newspaper. This is the third time I have tried Atkins. Failures from the past have included my laziness and my tendency to procrastinate. Each time, I lost up to about 25 lbs. Then, I would quit because I could hear those chocolate pies or some other sweets calling my name.
This time I have enlisted my husband, and we are both walking the walk and talking the talk, which makes this much easier. He is about 20 lbs overweight, but got bad cholesterol and triglyceride readings on his last physical, which really shook him up. I had him read DANDR and he decided he would try it with me to see if this would help lower his levels. Anyway, we are now into week three. I lost 7 lbs. the first week and he lost 9 lbs. Neither of us lost on week two. In the three times that I have tried the diet, two of those times I did not lose weight during the second week, which is kind of disheartening but we are determined to make this happen.

Hello and welcome. I think you'll find this a very supportive place to be. If you haven't already, check out the 'second time around forum'. We also have an exercise forum and challenge forum to help keep your motivation high. Congratulations on your recent degree and here's to your Atkins success!
