Hello everyone!! After looking around at this board for a while, i have decided to do the Atkins diet. I am a female, 5'8 and 175 lbs. My ultimate goal is to be around 130-140 lbs. I have tried many diets before but i have always failed, so hopefully this plan will work. I have been a strict vegan for 3 years, eating tons and tons of carbs. I stopped eating meat because i thought it would help me lose weight, but the opposite happened. I gained 20 lbs in a short 5 months. This august, i realized a vegetarian lifestyle wasn't for me, therefore i started eating meat again (no red meat though), and have cut out all breads and pastas. I was still eating tons of fruit, up to 5 apples a day, therefore i wasn't loosing any weight. Recently I have decided to try the Atkins diet and see how it will go. I am a major junk food addict, i love chocolate and ice cream and cookies, so this might be tough. Also, my friends and family aren't much support either, they constantly force me to eat things that are bad for me. This is why i came on this board, to find support from my fellow atkineers, and to support others as well.
