I'm Krissie. I'm 20 years old and I was on Atkins for 10 months. I lost over 60 pounds in those 10 months and I loved it. I was always considered the "fat kid" in school and I hated it. After High School, before starting a new school in August 2004, I lost probably 40 pounds. (From April - August) I did look awesome and I was so happy. I even did well through college on Atkins and I maintained my weight. After I got pregnant I couldn't stay on the Atkins WOL because my OB/GYN said carbs are needed to help my baby grow & stay healthy. Eventually I was diagnosed with diabetes (gestational), Pre Eclampsia & PIH (Pregnancy Induced Hypertention) so I had to go on a restricted diet. Carbs had to be restricted, sodium had to be restricted, so it was like I was on some sort of low carb diet. My daughter was born early this month and I lost 30 something pounds, but I'm still not back to my pre-pregnancy weight & image. I have 20 pounds to lose until I get back to my pre pregnancy weight, but I don't think my pre pregnancy image will be back the same after 20 pounds, but I won't know until I try, right?
I'm going to start Atkins WOL again right after my 6 week OB GYN appointment when I get the okay to exercise and diet.
After that, my body will be back to normal and I'll be able to feel good about myself again. Gaining the weight was worth it when I look at my beautiful daughter, but I just am not happy with myself and my image. I need to lose weight and Atkins is the WOL for me. It's the only thing that actually worked for me (I hate to say 'diet' because it's not; it's more than that.) and I was so happy when I was on the Atkins WOL!
So, wish me luck guys!
