  • New here and kicking things off tomorrow!

    Hi everyone,

I discovered ADBB a few weeks ago and have lurked a bit off and on while trying to decide if I was finally going to start Atkins for the last time and succeed at losing this weight once and for all. I've waffled back and forth between which plan (WW, BFL, Atkins, etc) to choose to lose the weight and I keep coming back to really wanting what Atkins offers. Control of my cravings, tasty food choices, ketosis!, and some pretty effective weight loss if the regulars here are any evidence. I've been doing the "gonna start tomorrow, Monday, after such and such an event" cycle for months now and I'm only getting fatter. It's time. It just is. There is nothing particularly special about tomorrow, except that it is the first day of my being fit and healthy. I hope to come here often for support, I know I'll need it. This seems like an awesome community from what I've seen the few times I've popped on to read a thread or two. Wish me luck!

(Oh and my username was chosen to remind me that I want my two little girls to grow up seeing a model of womanhood who is healthy, beautiful and fit! I want them to love their bodies and to love exercise and good, nutritious foods. I also have a son, but I particularly want to win this battle "For my girls")

My starting weight is 225lbs. My bodyfat % is around 41%. So that puts my LBM at 132. I want to be under 21% BF so I'm putting my goal weight at 160 lbs. I'm 5'7" and I think I'll look awesome at that weight. I've never really been fit, so I just don't know how I'll look at different weights. It's been so long since I was even under 200lbs. 3 babies and 5 years ago at least!

    So off I go......

        JM,

Welcome to the group! Please join us in the newest 6 week challenge and let us all know how you are doing each day. I encourage you to drink your water (repeat H2O is my friend to yourself), eat only induction food and exercise. Also, if you like to chat, start yourself a journal so you can track your progress and others can help you out too. You can do it and you will be a shining example of health for your family.

          Thanks for the encouragement, Deb!

I haven't looked around the site too much yet so I hadn't discovered the journals. I'll go take a peek now before heading off to bed.

Re: New here and kicking things off tomorrow!

I think you are making a good choice with the Atkins. I have been doing Body for life for some time and my weight has come to a standstill. i have been busting my @$$ at the gym and nothing. i decided to try atkins and within the first week of induction- which was about 2 weeks ago, i could see results.
i have also discovered that i have candida- the info is in the book, high yeast growth, so by illiminating many of the carbs you are allowed on bfl i was able to lose weight.
i also have 2 girls, the baby will be 1 on nov 30th which is another reason, like you, that i want to lose the weight.
i am new at this too, but seeing results and everyone here is really nice.
