  • Hi - I'm Starting Out

    Hi Guys, i live in Kent England, and i have tried the Atkins diet in the past - but only for a week, but did have good results, i think i lost nearly a stone and was very pleased. However, i started back into my old eating ways, and i've put it all back on again. I currently weight 15st 10lbs, i'm 5ft 10", and my wife reckons i don't look big, she says i've got broad shoulders, and maybe i have, but i've still got a lot of fat (in my opinion) around my midsection. My goal is about 14.5st, what is the quickest time i could do that in do you think?

    I'm starting back on the Atkins today, i tried it yesterday and did well, only had a packet of pre-cooked chicken (think it was a 250g pack) (no skin on) Carbs = Trace, and fat was about 1g per 100g, and i also had a bottle of spring water, so was really pleased with myself all day until last night when i came home and i really fancied something nice so raided the fridge and cupboards!

    Have you read the book, Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution. Its like our bible.
    So as the new kid, let me give you my bestest tips.
    Measure yourself, some times the scales are evil and don't want to budge. The tape always works
    Read labels, carbs are nastly little things that like to hide in stuff.
    Read labels, fibers are great little things we can subtract from the total carb count.
    Eat the chicken skin, its the best part. LOL
    Make a plan. Brook, one of our best success stories saids to fill your refrig up with legal snacks so you will have something there when the head pops in.

      Hi, Chicken! I know it's super-tough starting out. You're here, though, and that's what's important! Read the forums, ask questions, and let us know how we can help you. Your success on this way of eating is what drives this board.

        I've allways had a bit of a habit of reading labels, so that bit shouldn't be too much of a problem - its remarkable just how many carbs are in certain things like ONE chocolate bar for example

                    I want to mainly loose weight from my face, chin, and belly (although i don't drink - its Chicken Tikka Massala thats to blame for the belly - hence my screen name!!)
