  • Hi Everyone!

I am finally able to write a few lines here to introduce myself. I am actually returning to Atkins after a 6 month break during which I went to the gym 2-3 times a week. Did cardio and weights and loaded up on carbs. Needless to say I ate more than what I burned at the gym, so here I am trying to fit in my old jeans again.

I would like to loose about 8lb. I started induction last Monday (Yepee! Half the battle is over!) and the biggest change I notice is the lack of cravings between meals and an increase alertness overall. I have no problem waking up at 6am! Other than that, I have managed to stay away from the scale and just got some measurements this morning for the first time. I have nothing to compare them to, but I hope I can smile at the results one week from today...

I have lowered the intensity of my workouts but I have spread out physical activity to include abt 1 hour of walking everyday. Do you guys think this is a good idea? Also, I think I may have gone over 20 carbs/day to abt. 28 or so on a couple of occasions. Other than slowing down the process do you think this is going to defeat my purpose altogether?

I read here that the second time around it is more difficult to loose weight on Atkins. Can anybody be more specific? From my experience I seem to need to eat more legal foods to feel full this time around. Is this going to slow me down?

Lots of questions... Forgive me but this is the first time I use the forum and I am looking forward to your feedback and support.

    Thank you!

Personally? I think the "golden shot theory" is a bunch of garbage. It certainly hasn't been my experience.

The extra 8 grams of carb isn't going to defeat your purpose by any stretch - especially with you as close to goal as you are and especially with you working out like you do. Does it have potential to slow you down? Sure it does, but time will tell how much!

What have you lowered the intensity of your workouts? I've never found working under my potential to be beneficial to my big picture.

    Welcome to ADBB !

      Hi Brook!

Thanks for responding! I lowered the intensity of my workouts because when I started running from 1 to 4 miles on the treadmill I was on a low carb diet. I found out that after the workouts I craved sugars and carbs. Thinking that I was burning more, I gave in and that's how I gained 10 lb and three pant sizes 4 months later. I don't know if I am doing the right thing with walking 2 mi everyday instead of running 2-3 times a week, but I am affraid that if I keep up the gym I will put myself in the same vicious cycle. Any thoughts?

Thanks again and btw what is "the golden shot theory"?
