  • New? Come say hi! Non-threatening hello thread

I know sometimes you come to a new board and it can be daunting. Maybe you don't want to start a thread about yourself, but feel better hoppin' in a thread where others are also saying a little about themselves?
I know allll about the pressures of starting a new thread and being like, "OMG, what if no one says hi", or "OMG! Even I don't care to meet me right now". *l*

Whatever the reason, just come in and say hello, and a little about yourself (or a lot, depending).

Hi. My name is Jamie and I currently live in Denver Colorado. I'm 35 years old, have 4 kids, an adorable husband and I have been low-carb dieting since around 1984. Since then, and a varied array of other ways of eating, I managed to lose and gain hundreds of pounds. This time I'm going to lose this weight--it's just been more difficult than it has been in the past, due to the negative self-programming I've been putting myself through. My interests include politics, gardening, reading, playing strategic military board games (like Risk) and making you smile, even when it's at my own expense.

And it's nice to meet you.

Re: New? Shy and not new? Come say hi! Non-threatening hello thread

I will join you Jamie! Hi, my name is Debbie and I live in a tiny little town in Kentucky called Clay. It is so small we don't even have a stop light, one fast food resturant or a place to buy gas after midnight. Oh, as for groceries, broccoli is as exotic as it gets so I drive an hour each way to get carb-friendly veggies like leeks, pumpkin and eggplant. So, jump on board and say howdy!

My name is Lynne and I have this big secret. I am about to retire from a job that I have held since 1981. OMG. Next week I am going to be home after 10 years on the road. (You can't see it, but I am doing a happy dance right here on my desk. )
We welcome all of you as your presence on this board is what gives us joy.

My name is Tim - I tried Atkins in 2003-2004 (spring), but have since fallen off the proverbial wagon (I went from 327 to 285) and now I am at 321 again 1.5 years later...Going to do this again, this time with more exercise as well. I am 38 with a great wife and two wonderful children. My goal weight is 180~ pounds, but anything under 200 would be great.

Hi! My name is Jennifer and I am a Canadian (west coaster!) who moved to the U.A.E. (Middle East) in the Spring of 2004! I am happily married with two wonderful boys. I am on this WOE to lose this unwanted extra weight, mostly from pregnancy, that has been literally "hanging" (lol) around for too long (at least 11 years almost). This place really is friendly and make sure you post and say Hi!

Tim-- you are doing great so far. The beginning is so very difficult, but you are already doing it! I am so excited to see your 14-day results!

HI, my name is Peggy and I live in NC. I am 47 years old and weight 275 lbs. I've just started Atkins after having tried every other program. I've been on this WOE for 7 days and have lost 4 lbs. I am a widow, a nurse, the mother of two grown boys (21 & 19). I love to garden, hike and camp and am looking forward to getting to the place where I can comfortably pursue the active life I want. Thanks for starting this thread. I'm one of those who are a bit shy. Peggy

Hi. My name is Grace. I wrote earlier when I was having trouble with induction, but I never really introduced myself. That's because I don't really like talking about myself. And I'm complicated.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hi. I started Atkins in October. I didn't do it correctly at first, so I consider my official start date to be when I got straightened out, which is Oct 31.

Since that time I believe I have lost 10 lbs. It is hard to say because my weight seems to be fluctuating quite a bit for reasons I can't explain.

I live in upstate NY, in Dryden. I attend Syracuse University, where I am getting my masters. I am applying for the Ph.D.

grace, i'll invite you to do the same as i did peggy.

there's lots of support in the journals. you might also get aquainted with the induction forum. i'd say check that out for sure!
