  • First time posting-third time trying Atkins

    Hi all,

I have lurked here in the past, and have been inspired so many times by everyone... but find myself recommitting to losing once again. This time, I am going to DO IT! Just went shopping for groceries on an empty stomach, and bought all good foods... I'm roasting a pork as I type this. So glad Thanksgiving is here - not only do I truly have a lot to be thankful for, but the turkeys are on sale!!!

My weight is at an alltime high right now - I'm 5'3" and 175lbs. It's all so deceiving, as I can still fit into a size 14 pant, but the scale's ugly return tells me to get going NOW. And you know what? The food will always be there; one day I may indulge in something, one day when I reach my goal, but for now, I remain focussed on losing. I am walking to work daily, to and fro, and truly want this, this time around. Just think: by NYE, I will be smaller!!! My goal in my heart is to get down to 135, but I haven't been that small since high school. I pray it does happen though. I don't think that's too low to go, do you?? I hate when people say, "Oh, you're fine! you don't need to lose weight"!! That comment is probably my least liked one.

Any advice or words of encouragement are always welcome. One day at a time, and no goofing up. Hope everyone is doing well, and has a GREAT LOW CARB TURKEY DAY!!!!

    Sincerely,

Pounds to lose Patti in Florida

Thanks everyone for your encouragement. We really need it, ay? Had to return the pork roast to Publix (grocery store) this a.m... was tough as leather and tasted funky. At least I have the turkey to fix tonight. I love turkey too... and plan to get another one when they all go on sale soon. I'm still not sure how the bulletin board works, and I assume I am replying to everyone right now?? I hope to become more proficient at this as time goes by. What a newbie! I got inspired by Shelly's "no weigh-in til Dec. 31" challenge. I think I might try that! The "TOM" weight fluctuation factor really gets discouraging... the scale sucks sometimes, doesn't it???!!!! Happy Thanksgiving! Keep the faith!!! Patti

Re: First time posting-third time trying Atkins

Thanks everyone again, for your encouragement! This is so fantastic! I haven't been this excited to logon to the internet since my last foray into internet dating! ha ha ha... making chicken strips (skinless, of course) for dinner, and had tuna and green beans for lunch... grabbed a chunk of cheese for breakfast (ok, not the best breakfast, but I was running late and satisfied just the same. I love Kraft's Crackerbarrel cheeses. They are so rich and tasty, and come in a few zero point flavors (the rest are less than 0). I am so psyched to cook my turkey!! My daughter turned vegetarian, so it's all for me (WoW)... guess I'll have to freeze some. Thank God I love turkey and will make cold turkey salad with celery, and will try to do a batch of low carb soup. I've been walking to work or riding my bike daily -- not too far, but just far enough -- takes 15-20 min. to do it, and I take the vigorous, hilly route when on foot... biking is harder, but I do that too.

I think my past two attempts at Atkins were twarted by too much Splenda and too many (nightly) homemade heavy cream desserts with no carb/no cal chocolate syrup. I lost 15 lbs. once, and it was the easiest dieting I've ever done. I love mayo and tuna, and meats and all the Atkins foods - so much easier than point counting. I had a loonnnggg stall and got so discourage. Is it normal to have three-week stall???

Anyway, I am so glad I'm onboard. You guys are the best. I feel I have friends I haven't met yet!!! I am so psyched! We are all going to do this and finally WIN the battle. Thanks for your support and write me if you need anything in a friend. God Bless and keep it up, ya'll!!!
