    hello all,
my name is sami and i live in canada.
    following is my info.

    male
    5' 10"
    waist 38 - 40
    age 20
    weight 118 kgs

target weight = below 90 kg (even if it is 89 kg)

I have never tried any sort of dieting before. I have tried jogging and exersising a few time but i always give up some how.
I am sick and tired of all this weight and want to control my weight.
All my relatives always get pissed at me and tell me to jog an hour everyday but that seems too difficult for me at this stage.

I heard about atkins diet on the internet and a few of my friends told me it is the best and safest diet out there. so i decided to give it a try.

Can somebody please share their eating schedule with me so that i can get some sort of an idea as to what and when i should eat

    thankyou very much
    regards,
    sami

Hi there msalmany! You have come to a great place to learn all about the Atkins diet, but you need to make sure you get a copy of the 2002 version of Dr. Atkin's book. Reading that made things so much easier to understand. I'm still learning about how to eat, when AND what. It's definitely worth the work. If you can get through induction, you can do it all! It gets so much easier once you have some understanding of the entire thing. It's hard to exercise, I didn't for 15 years and just about 2 weeks ago started doing something about it. I LOATHED exercise. I'm getting hooked very quickly on the high I feel after now. You need something low impact until it gets to be more comfortable, there are a lot of people here with great knowledge concerning where you should begin with that. Don't let any question go unasked, but definitely, always have the book handy! Good luck, I can't wait to see how you do! No one will pressure you as much as you pressure yourself, so remember, we support as best we can, but you have to want to do it. Now go out and those carbs down!

Hi Sami. So happy you've decided to join us. I totally agree with the information you've already received. READ THE BOOK, it is essential in giving you information and guidelines for doing the Atkins program.

Read the FAQ's here in the forum and get the knowledge on how to do the WOE (way of eating). The first 14 days of the program are very important that they break the cravings you have for sugars. Let the diet do its work, but you have to do it the way Dr. Atkins intended.

YOU CAN do it. Everyone here is fantastic for supporting and encouraging you! Best wishes and please keep us posted on your progress.

        Welcome.

Play by the rules and Atkins will work very well for you.

Looks as if you will be working in both metric an US units.

Google calculator is wonderful, and will do conversions.

        Type in

        90 Kg in lb

        or

        4oz in g

and Google will give you the answer
Atkins didn't say 'Calories don't count',
        he said, 'Don't count calories.'

Higgies is about your height. Look at his profile

            http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...p?userid=14158

Click on his Fitday Link and see what he eats each day.

Look in my signature block and click on my Fitday.

Higgies and I eat about the same amount, but have very different tastes.

Niether of us is on induction, so we are eating things forbidden to you as you start, but these profiles will set you thinking.

Hey Sami! Welcome to ADBB! This is a great place to get started.

Thanks for the plugs Labarum! I just noticed today that you've been referencing me for a while. I guess that's why I post my fitday journal and all in the first place...so that's great, thanks! I gotta check to see why you think we have such different tastes! LOL!

I tend to still eat induction type foods (bad of me, I really do need to up my carbs and start more OWL-type foods). So my Fitday journal might give you some good ideas. The best thing is that you don't really deprive yourself, so eat up, get educated, and best of luck! If yo need anything, throw me a PM. Everyone's here to help!

Wow! i am astonished by the amount of positive feedback I have got here. I was looking over higgies diet plan. Sounds great to me. But since I am still in the early stages I guess i will have to keep the carbs even lower. You are a really dedicated lot! I had though that my goal was kinda un realistic but hey, ppl have done it! I am hoping to reach my goal within 6 months. I will keep you all posted with my weight weekly. I would love to be a more frequent visitor here but I am currently juggling between mechanical engineering and mathematics double degree courses.
I am looking forward to my next visit here.
                Thankyou again for the support.
                ciao

                  Re: new member

welcome to ADBB there are really no set eating patterns or meals you really need to read the book cause you pick the foods you like from the lists and eat only enough to satisfy your hunger not higgies nor Labarum's but yours and it will take a different amount of food every tike you eat. make sure you have having some of your 3 cups of veggies, proteins and healthy fats at each meal from chapter 11 induction foods lists and remember every time you eat eat only enough food to satisfy your hunger at the time you are eating even if you got food still on the plate room in your tummy or carbs in your budget. Once you ketosi kickes in you will discover the great side effect of it appetite suppression and you will need to remind yourself it is time to eat.

then you add your aerobic and resistance exercise plan to your eating plan and you will be a big loser. happy low carbing.
