  • Well, I was sick of being "fat". :-/

Whoa, talk about a loaded subject line! haha That's my introduction I guess! I'm 5'2" and a VERY petite girl (I'm talking Nicole Richie's bone structure) and weighing 121 pounds was extremely uncomfortable for me. SO, only one thing to do! Atkins! It's work for just about everyone in my family, including my own mother, so I did it too. . . only it wasn't that easy. I haven't been able to get past a week of Induction for over a year now, but this is the first time! I've been on Induction for about a month and a half now, and I'm down to 102. I didn't lose it all at once though; about 6 months ago I got down to 112 and then stayed at that for a LONG time. I still have a little bit more to lose, so I'll be probably 97/98 pounds when I'm truly happy with how I look. I get a lot of crap from other forums and my family members about how they think I have an eating disorder, simply because I'll weigh less than 100 pounds, but that's a healthy weight for someone of my frame. I'm still carrying a very "hourglass" figure, if you know what I mean (lol), and I look FAR from sickly or skinny.

Also, I can't workout because of a recent roller coaster injury which I am treating with physical therapy, massage therapy, and muscle relaxers unfortunately. For that reason, even in the 90s, I feel that I look at least 105/110 because I have very little muscle on me, and fat looks bigger than muscle.

I hope to share my experiences with you wonderful people and offer any help and knowledge to you that I may have (after all, I do have over a year's worth of experience!). haha Hopefully with your help I'll be able to succeed with my plan and NOT ever go back to cheating and being unhappy and unhealthy!

    Thank you!

    welcome to ADBB.
not going to chastize you about your weight just your Atkins. You need to do all phases of Atkins inorder to make your House of Atkins strong and secure structure for you to move into when you get to goal weight. Induction is the foundation and you have done a great job there but OWL is the framing and you need to know how your body reacts to all those foods in all those food groups so you don't start having uncontrollable blood sugar spikes with the cravings when you are at goal. test each and every timber you are framing your house of Atkins with so you know it is sound for your body and metabolism. Don't think just cause it is in the book it will work for you. We have several Atkineers here who can tell you when they hit the nut level or the berry level they were suddenly having troubles even though they were under their CCLL. NOT2LATE can't eat certain brands of cheese and had she not taken her time and examinend all those foods and discovered the bad "timbers" duing her OWL and having the deep ketosis control she might have been on wild high carb eating days as a result.

Work your Atkins all of it and builkd a very strong healthy house of Atkins decorated and styled for your body, your likes and dislikes and your metabolism.

    Happy low carbing.

Thank you very much! I actually tried moving to OWL, but I gained 3 pounds. :-( Not to mention, I *felt* physically ill!

Any suggestions on how to deal with that?

what did you add in OWL?
OWl is very rigid like induction. first rung you only add 5 more net carbs of those induction veggies to the 3 cups you already ate ( shhhhhhhhhhh don't tell folk but Atkins is a big veggie eating program)

LOL I LOVE vegetables actually! I tried adding some nuts and berries, and a few carrots. Something about the sugar in the fruit didn't agree with me I'm guessing, because I eat nuts now (I probably get my 5+ extra carbs a week from them without even noticing it!) and I don't have the same problem, but every time I try strawberries, or blueberries, or anything of that nature, it doesn't agree with me. And I certainly don't want to move on an introduce MORE complex carbs if even that isn't going too well!

Lots of people have problems with berries, especially strawberries, anmd not just folk on Atkins. Just skip the berry rung and try something else. Introduce a food a week as Dr A suggested and see how you go. You need to be able to sustain a healthy eating plan for the rest of your life.

And anyone can feel fat, my Mums only your height and feels very fat and bloated at her present wight of 68kgs (150lbs). Different strokes for different folks!

            Good luck with it.

Were you eating those strawberries did you have a fat with them like Dr Atkins warns us to in DANDR chapter 14? if not the blood sugar spike got you.

You know your triggers on rung 4 what about rung 1,2 and 3? did you add the 5 net carbs of induction veggies? carrots are not induction veggies they are on the starchy veggies rung.

How about the fresh dairy rung 2 did you get to add any of those?

Oh and based on your 14 day clean induction eating and your pounds needed to lose and your lost pounds what is your metabolic resistance type and whay is your projected CCLL (found in chapter 14 based on your induction results) Exercise effects CCLL more exercise higher CCLL (critical carb limit for Losing) if you have a low CCLL then you will not be able to keep increasing your carb limit asa you add rungs and will need to swap out carb foods already in your Atkins for new rung carbs as you test them out seeing f you have triggerring foods elsewhere. Test those timbers of your framing well now so your House of Atkins Eating doesn't come falling back down on you when you move in At goal.
