  • 'Cause I promised Austlyn

This is me in 1999. I was 5'2" and 276. When someone first mentioned Atkins it was in passing and all she ate was hotdogs and cheddar cheese. Needless to say it didn't appeal to me. I tried it again later (without reading the book) and ate steak and green beans most of the time. I lost around 30 pounds or so.

I lost more weight when I had a change in lifestyle (new job, divorce, during the divorce I lost 280 lbs, but he was the easiest to let go hee hee) I got down to 164 before I got pregnant. 10 weeks after my lil' guy was born, I was 5 pounds lighter than when I got pregnant, putting me at 159. (let's just say, throwing up daily for 8 months will do that for you) Now I have creeped, or raced, up to 195(in a matter of 10 months) as of 2 weeks ago. I hated to think I had worked so hard on my weight only to hit 200 lbs again. I had to do something. I knew for weeks I would start Atkins. I kinda had to gear myself up for it. I couldn't just say I wanted to lose weight, I had to get in my head that I wanted it more than Coke and rice (my favorite carbs). Now I am here, shining like a ketosian beacon, burning the midnight oil and loving it.

I can't say it has been a CLEAN Induction for the past two weeks. But only 2 days were slightly dingey, the next morning I was right back on the wagon. I must say, the view is nicer on the wagon.

So here is me, shootin' to be back in my Jordache's on Christmas.

Sorry about the quality of the picture. It's a scan of a scan that was transferred to fabric. All of my other HW pictures were *cough cough* lost in a move.

I am so glad to have found this board. Ya'll are great!!

Austlyn, hang in there!! It is an achievable goal!! And worth it!!

Thanks, Never and Sheshy! Sheshy, you wonderful woman, you! I feel good and am enjoying this WOE. I have really enjoyed playing with all the new recipes! This site has been priceless really. I am still waiting on the book, it's been almost 2 weeks, but it is going by media mail. But I have been able to find just about all my answers to questions by searching this site.

I will post a real SW shot after I get Thanksgiving pictures from my MIL. I will post a during pic in another 10 pounds or so.

                        Re: 'Cause I promised Austlyn

Hey, Austlyn, That's great! Way to be strong. I adore chocolate as well and it is so very tough to resist, but you did it! I know if I can do something once, I can do it again. The reason I love Atkins is because once I am on a roll and in ketosis, I think about how I am burning fat by just being alive! Sleeping, eating, watching TV, (secretly, I still need to get my exercise plan started, but it has to wait until Monday see, we all have our issues!) sitting and searching through all the recipes, all of those things are making me burn fat. I just don't want to throw a monkey wrench in the works and mess up. I practice in my head, saying "No, thank you"

You have to remember, we are trying to change a major part of our lives. It will take time and we may even screw up on occasion, but as long as we pick ourselves up and keep fighting, we win! Each day my scale either stays the same or goes down, I am still winning the battle. As long as it doesn't go up, It's alllll good!

I won't tell you that I want to pick broccoli over chocolate all the time, 'cause, ****, I don't! But I just try to keep in mind my child and wanting to be there for him as long as I can. Sometimes I even get kinda mad at the world, that presents itself with a layers of tempting junk food! I know I have to set a good example of how to eat and live for him, It's me against the TV!

You've done great so far and you can continue doing, one choice at a time. You did fabulous turning down those holiday treats. I will tell you, this coming month is gonna be more tough than normal. But, it's do-able. I can't do a clean sweep of my house either and just toss out things I can't have. My hubby and son don't Low Carb, so I have to make breakfast, lunch and dinner for the 3 of us, every day, and we usually all eat different things! Last night I made the Low Carb pizza for me and a regular one for Hubby and son. Honestly, I felt better after I ate than Hubby did. Yeah, his was a little crustier than mine but that's cool, I didn't feel stuffed to the gills and roly poly.

Oh, how I do ramble!! Anyway, keep it up, saying no now will be worth it a month from now, and a month from then and a month from then. We can do this!

Try PMing me again. Go to the top of this post and click on my name that is in blue and underlined like a link. It should pop down a list of options. One of those says "Send a Private Message to..." click that and it should bring up a new page for you to write in.

You are doing great, sweets! Keep it up, remember, one choice at a time!
Oh, and thanks for the compliments. It means alot!
