  • Hello Everyone!!

    Howdy!

I have been lurking on the board for a couple of months now, and decided to join. Last winter-spring I went from 180lbs to 160 and was blown away by my success with Atkins. I didn't even think I could weigh 160!! I'm 25yrs old and 5'10". All of my friends told me I was too thin! That was a great feeling!

Well....I decided to quit smoking in June, and unfortunately took up my bad eating habits again. I tend to go crazy for chocolate. It's my major downfall, whether in solid or starbucks mocha form! I gained most of the lost weight back (however, I'm still smoke free, 6 mths later )

Well, now I'm starting Induction again (day 2) and will be lounging at the Second Time Around Club forum mostly. Just thought I'd say hi and that this forum is an wonderful and supportive place. I'm honored to be a part of it.

    Mike

    Hi Mike!!
I tried quitting smoking a few months ago. I lasted 3 weeks and gained a whole bunch of weight back really fast! Lots going on and injured I couldn't work out. Anyway, I started smoking again. So good for you on beating that nasty niccotine!!
I think since you have been smoke free for so long this may not be so hard. I don't know, but I am hoping for you!! I am going to give it another shot after the first of the year. I'll be rooting for you!! Best wishes!!

Thanks I wanted to give you a resource that I found to be immeasurably helpful while quiting. The following link takes you to a ton of articles written by a stop-smoking counselor. HOWEVER, they are not your typical "smoking is bad for you" articles. Instead, they touch on the reasons people continue to smoke and the psychological aspect of it. There was a TON of information that I did not know and was amazed to find out. I read the articles every day for a month while quiting. I hope you find it useful.

A collection 16 articles about why people continue to smoke cigarettes by Joel Spitzer.

      Good Luck!
