  • Hi! Newbie Here!

Hi! My name is Memory. I am 27 years old and weigh 165lbs on a 4ft 2in frame. My goal weight is 110lbs to 105lbs. I am a dwarf and I have always struggled with weiht. I will start the induction phase tomorrow. I think it will easy during the day because my 8 year old and my husband will be gone. I think the dinners will be difficult. As of the exercise, that is not a problem. I do aerobics 4 days a week and weight training 3 days a week. My problem is eating. Thanks in advance for the support I will receive. I know this just from reading previous posts.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

Welcome aboard Memory, glad you found us and joined. I think you will love it here as the folks are friendly and very helpful and supportive.
Read the book Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution if you get a chance. While most of us have read his other books, this is the one we use as our bible... quote from and believe in.

        Re: Hi! Newbie Here!

Memory, Nice to see you on the BB.

The trick on this is to fill up on the veggies - a big salad with cheese or some other protein is great for lunch and really fills you up. It takes me an hour to munch through mine while I work.

When we go on 'ordinary' restricted intake diets, our bodies think a famine has arrived and slow down our metabolism, which is why you put it all back on when the 'diet' is over. People have lost sight of the fact that the word 'diet' also is a term to simply describe what food you regularly eat. On Atkins, you eat a lot of food - it is just not fattening food. And because you are satisfying the body's needs and not going hungry, your nmetabolism speeds up and you lose more weight. It's very simple and elegant!

To cope with dinners, cook the same for the family as you are having but do extras for them. I usually have meat/chicken/fish etc cooked on a griddle or grilled, and stir fried or steamed veggies.
If my other half is having the same, I will make him some extras like chips, mashed potato or rice, and he will have a bread roll as well. Often he cooks his own dinner as he likes spicy and I don't. You may find this a good answer to feeding the family without having to go to a lot of extra trouble.

Atkins didn't say 'Calories don't count',
                  he said, 'Don't count calories.'
