    i bet when no other diet works atkin does,since it is not a diet it is a woe,and u gonna love your atkins food in no time,and it wil tickle yourability to cook,SAHM can do it btter since they have time to think what to cook and how?
    Btw did u read the book yet?

      If you have a fair bit to lose, and you follow Induction properly and strictly, you can expect a good 'jump start'. Only weigh once a week maximum, probably once a fortnight is enough. I had 150 lbs to lose and lost 24 lbs on Induction. This big loss has kept me motivated - if I can do that, I can do anything.
      Be strict with yourself on Induction and you will get a good idea of how your body is going to respond.

        i am wrapping up day 3, and i feel good about that, but when are these obnoxious cravings gonna go away. my stress level is going thru the roof trying to stay away and focus on other things

          Hey Lori,

          Like you, I am new to Atkins (Day 5 to be exact), and I know what you mean about cravings! But what I have done to keep my mind off it and keep me on track is to start my own Journal (Journal Stats Forum). I feel more obliged to not cheat because I'd feel that if I cheated, i'd be letting all those who are reading my journal, down.

          Another thing we all must remember is that cravings are a state of mind. Your brain belives what you tell it. Try this exercise and see:

          Close your eyes and tell your mind that you want to lose weight. What do you see? In most cases you see a dull, discoloured, motionless fat figure. But what if you tell your mind that you want to be fitter and slimmer? What then do you see?

          Try a simular exercise with a food you crave. This may sound repulsive, but if I suddenly get a craving of X food I imagine one of the most disgusing things that could happen to that piece of food, like being rolled in faeces. (i did warn you), then I imagine taking a bite of that peice of food, chewing it, imaging the texture, smell and taste, then swallow - trust me, after this exercise the craving will go and you certainly wouldn't want to eat X food again!!!

            how do these ketostix work? i am not cheating, following exactly, every day now and i still only show a trace on these stix??? i am starting day5

                well here i am, day 6...i measured this morning and have lost 1 inch on my stomach, 1/2 on my waiste and chest, but no weight loss yet

                  Hi dontwanna,

                  That's great about the inch loss! And I'm sure you'll have a weight loss soon.

                  But, why don't you go to the Review My Menu forum and list a couple of your daily menus (including portion size if possible) and let someone take a look. They may have a suggestion or 2 to make.
