    Well it is January 1st and like many I am vowing to get this weight off once and for all. I have done Atkins in the past and did manage to lose weight but never continued. I have a lot of weight to lose and would like to lose the bulk of it by end of June.

    I plan to follow Atkins to the letter and exercise. I do find boards like this tremendously supportive and journalling what I eat always helps me stay on target.

    Hopefully the weight loss part isn't as difficult as learning all these little smilies and how to post pictures etc

    One quick question especially toward those who have been successful - today I logged my food and didn't eat anything that I shouldn't but did eat a lot of high calorie fatty items such as bacon to keep my hunger away while I head toward ketosis - it was almost 2000 calories and a tonne of fat - will I still lose???? I know I shouldn't get caught up in calories and fat but thats that hard part. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Glad to have you hear. Since you've done Atkins before, you know the plan and rules (although reading our FAQ forum never hurts). I found this board to be supportive to get me to goal, and I only hope you do as well. As for you high fatty question, remember this is a high fat diet. You certainly can eat fatty meats to satisfy your hunger ESPECIALLY during the 14 day Induction. During that period, you daily Caloric percentages should be about 65% fat, 30% protein, and 5% Carb. Are you using Fitday.com to record your daily food? A number of us have found that site to be extremely helpful in ensuring our correct daily intake.

      Hi JustDarcy and welcome to ADBB and back to Atkins!

      If you're interested in journaling, head down to the Miscellaneous Forum and look for Journal Chat and start a journal!

      Bootcamp is starting on the 16th...check out the Main Forum and look for the Bootcamp Question and Answers, it might be a good way to get back in the swing of Atkins again!

        welcome to ADBB and back to Atkins. Remember Atkins is a ketogenic plan so you need high dietary fats to prime the body for body fat storage burning.
        you want at least 65% of your total cals to be fats. When I started I had almost 4000 cals and lost as your ketosis kicks in your appetite will deminidh and then your hungry will be less and you will see a drop in the total cals you need to satisfy your hunger.
