  • Hello-new here

Hi everyone I am new to atkins just started a low carb diet. How has it worked for everyone? I want to lose 15 lbs or so. I gained weight after I had surgery a few months ago and I hope low carb will help me with that. I'm a fruit junkie so the induction is hard. On the foods to stick to and foods to avoid I didn't see pickles on the list. Is that okay to eat? Also since I just started I was munching on carrots at work but I just realized they're not on the good veggies list, are they high in carbs?

I appreciate the support and I hope everyone is doing well on it.

Hi Susi and welcome to !

Atkins is an awesome plan and lifestyle change! I'm sure it'll help you lose those 15 pounds and make you feel healthier too. Check out some of the Success Stories in the Main Forum, that'll show you the success that some people have had.

It probably will be a little tough if you're a fruit junkie, but it does get easier after a few days of Induction Food eating, you really will lose that sweet tooth...and the bonus is you will eventually add the fruits back in later in the plan. Dill pickles are okay, since they are basically a cucumber in a vinegar brine.

And carrots are a higher carb veggie, so you should avoid them for now. Maybe try celery or jicama slices for something crunchy!

Make sure to add your stats (beginning weight, goal, etc.) in your signature line!

Have fun exploring the forum, and we'll see you around the board!
