  • first time

This is the first time doing a low carb. I am kind of worried as I love carbs. I have been on it for 2 days and I have had under 20 carbs. I didn't know you weren't supposed to have caffeine, I have been drinking diet soda.I can use all the encouragement and advice you want to share with me. I am 43 and I weigh 245 LBS. We bought a treadmill for Christmas. We just got it together last night. I am looking forward to walking! I live in Nebraska and you never can tell what the weather is going to be, so no more excuses!

Kari, if you haven't already, get the book, Dr Atkins New Diet Revoltution 2002, it talks about all the whys and wherefores with this plan and it also explains why it works. Its really a must read.
Great you found us. Thanks for joining. Happy losing

            Re: first time

Thanks all for the welcome. I don't have the book yet, but I will get it soon. I want to do the Treadmill Trekie Challange, but I don't know how to get started. I went to your signature and clicked on it, but don't know what I have to do to join. I don't know very much about computers, in fact I was lucky to find this site.
            Thanks so much!

              Re: first time

Welcome karri! I know you'll enjoy your time here, and there are lots of people to help when you have questions. I think if you wanted to get started simply, you could just hit the forums button top left on the screen, and start looking through what's there, and anything you want to add to, you just add a post, like you did here, or start a new thread if you want to talk about something, you're doing great so far! Walking is great for you!

Hi Karri, and welcome to the club!!

To Join the Treadmill Trekkies, just click on one of our icons that has the Treadmill Trekkie Challenge in it, and it will take you to the thread. When you're there just post that you want to join, and tell us how many minutes or miles that you're going to do this month. There's also information on the first post in the thread telling you how to get the Treadmill Trekkie added to your signature line.

Best of luck to you!!! Yep, get the book, do your exercise, and drink your water!! (I think those are probably the three things that I've seen preached here the most.)

                  Re: first time

I ordered the book and am waiting for it to get here. I am not sure if I am doing the induction fase right or not. I have kept my carbs to 20 and have been eating eggs, ground beef, cheese and ham. I have felt good, but today I am feeling very depressed and it is very hard. I am drinking water and trying to keep in mind that the induction is hard. Help with advice to get me through
                  Thanks

                    Re: first time

                    Karri,
Go to the Induction Phase area of the board and read the stickies. They can tell you a lot about what you need to be eating. If what you listed is all that you're eating then you definitely need to add some veggies.

If you do it right, I don't think Induction has to be that hard on you. I'm starting my 12th day today and except for one day of "Induction Flu" I've felt great.

                    You can do it Karri!!!
