  • Hallo!

I'm James, a 22 year old student from the UK.

I'm starting teacher training in September, and I want to get fitter before then. It's going to be a very demanding and stressful year, and I want to be more comfortable about my body and confident when I'm stood in front of a class of 30 angry teenagers!

I had some success with Atkins about a year ago, and found that it worked really well for me. I felt great, more confident, and the weight was dropping off. I stopped after a while though, and I'm not even sure why. Back with a vengeance now though! And I'm not going to give up this time.

I'm planning to lose some weight, then join a gym (I'd join now, but I'd feel embarrassed at the moment, I don't like the idea of other people seeing me working out). Then I'd like to start doing some weight training, and bulk up.

    Start weight : 252 lb
    Target weight : 200 lb

      Re: Hallo!

Hello glitch! Glad to see you, and welcome. Tons of info here, and plenty of people to help you if you need motivation or support. Since you've done this before I'm just gonna make some teensie weensie suggestions just in case (this is my second time around too):

      1. Doctor Atkins New Diet Revolution from 2002
      2. Water water and more water.
      3. Exercise

I hope you have as much success and then more success sticking to this way of life and way of eating, good luck from the bottom of my shrinking body!

        Re: Hallo!

Hi glitch! and welcome to ADBB and back to Atkins!

Hey, jump on the exercise right away...after all it is part of the plan! Maybe some walking on the treadmill for now! Find the right gym and you'll be comfortable, they're there for the same reason and most people are so much into what they're doing they don't pay much attention other than a glance to see who walked in!

Good luck with the teaching, that sounds exciting!

Hope to see you around the board!

          Re: Hallo!

Welcome, glitch. Don't be shy about the gym, I joined when I was still 120 kgs - heavier than you on a 5'7" frame. Wear loose clothes and don't give a hoot what others think. There is a really big man at my gym, he'd go over 400 lbs and he's about 6'2". He wobbles, sure, but everone admires his attitude because he's doing something about it.

Get to it now, it will make the losing quicker and easier and give your self-confidence and self-esteem the boost you want.

          Good luck!
