I've been lurking around for a few days reading everyone elses posts, decided it was time to say hello. I bought the book about a month ago and after reading it decided it was for me. On the 31st went through and cleaned out the kitchen and started induction on the first. Down 8 lbs so far. My husband is wondeful and is doing it with me. He's down 10 lbs. Our son, who doesn't have a weight problem, eats meals with us, but he has one cabinet in the kitchen for a few extras. He's almost 14 and a bottomless pit! LOL I've never been on Atkins before, and also never really been in on a message board of any sort, so this is all really new. I'm really hoping to take advantage of all the support here. I have a lot of extreme stress in my life at the present time, which is where the majority of the extra weight has come from over the past year and a half or so. Hubby and I quit smoking about 1 1/2 years ago. The munching started there.... A month or two later he was diagnosed with cancer. The stress of his going through the chemo and radiation was just too much for me to deal with, so guess what? I kept eating. He's doing really well now, in remission, but my Mom had to have both lower legs amputated a few months ago. She's doing great, but you get the idea about the stress. Anyway, enough whining, just wanted to give you an idea of where my biggest weakness has been. Would love to chat with some folks to keep me strong! This seems like a GREAT place!

Re: Hi everybody!
Thanks all for the welcome! I have an exercise bike that I use, am thinking about a treadmill, just have to figure out where I can put it. I have a small house! LOL My asthma makes outdoor stuff difficult at times, and right now my part of Oklahoma has been suffering a pretty rough drought, so very dusty. (Did rain a little finally last night, but not enough to lift the burn bans.) I'm feeling great so far, and haven't even felt an urge to cheat (knock on wood!) I really expected a lot of cravings, but haven't had much. The worst has been that I used a lot of mints and gum after I quit smoking, so I still want to put something in my mouth, but not anything I can't deal with. Anyway, thanks again for the welcome. I'm reading my way around the site, so certainly will see you around the board!Start date: 1/1/06
