Hi everyone!
Before I get into my story, I just have to say how wonderful this forum is! I've spent the last few months reading and reading here and everyone is so supportive. You all rock! That's why I signed up.
I'm 40 years old. I've been overweight my entire life. No diet ever worked for me because I'd get so darn hungry, I had to eat. I had given up on dieting altogether until....
My father, on his death bed, told me that he'd like for me to lose weight so I wouldn't end up like him, taking all kinds of medicine for weight-related health problems. I told him I would.
The first time around with Atkins, I was amazed at how much we could eat, not ever be hungry and still lose weight! I did very well by losing a lot of weight. Then came the anniversary of my father's death and instead of keeping to my promise to him and myself, I decided to eat. I gained some weight back. I was so disgusted with myself because I did so well for so long and that made me eat even more. This past holiday season I ate everything in sight! Finally, on Jan. 1st, I decided to start all over again. Only this time, I decided to read others' stories and see how much they are actually losing and how they are doing it. That brought me here, to this board.
I am lucky in that I do have support at home, but sometimes we need more.
My biggest problems with Atkins: Exercise & water consumption. There are not enough hours in the day for me to drink that much water! I try my best, but I never get up to where I should be. Also, I can't seem to get my butt in gear on the exercise. All the weight I lost previously was done with almost no exercise. I know that I can't continue to this way because it simply needs to be done. I'm going to need some tips on that since I don't even know where to start. I get winded quickly and don't want to be passing out. I am going to read the exercise board and gather all the info I can and even if I just get on the old stationary bike, it's better than nothing.
I've got a lot of weight to go and I can't wait to get started on the forum. Hopefully, I'll get to know you all. Thanks from the bottom of my heart for having this forum.
*Edited to add that I'm one week into the induction phase and have lost 11 pounds!
