  • Newbie Alert

Hello, I just found this site over the weekend, and since I really need a support network, figured it was for me.
I've been overweight for about 9years now, ever since my first pregnancy... I thought if i was craving Haagen Daas, then hey, its for the baby, no problem. Well, didn't I just gain over 80lbs... and then of course, could not get it back off. I now have sons, who I adore, and desperately wish I had the energy to keep up with.
This has taken a pretty huge beating to my self esteem, and I believe my marriage as well... I turn my husbands attitudes around sometimes, I wish I didn't, but I think "If I wasnt fat, you wouldnt treat me like this". Well, Maybe it will make things better, maybe it will give me the confidence to do something about it.
I'm just at the end of my rope, I've tried a number of diets to no avail... I'm currently on day 4 of Atkins, and so far so good... I dont know if I'm actually losing any weight yet... but I've been able to stick to it at least.
Hoping to meet some new friends, and alliances in this weight loss journey.
    Thanks
    Lyndsay

    Dear Lyndsay!

    Welcome to !

I can relate to you about gaining weight during pregnancy, as I gained quite a bit of weight too, and didn't really take it off over the years and even had a 2nd child while still quite overweight.

I am sure you will find this board quite helpful and everyone is friendly on here and many are so quick to give helpful advice!

Take care and see you around!

Hi Lyndsay and welcome to ADBB and Atkins!

Day #4, good for you...how are you feeling?

This will be a great place for support. Do you have the book yet? (Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution 2002), if not, you'll want to pick one up!

Since you're just starting out, you might be interested in the 14 Day Induction forum in the Atkins Phases section of the board; there's a lot of great information and support for that phase!

      See you around the board!

        Re: Newbie Alert

Welcome, Lyndsay! I know all about the pregnancy weight gain. I've always been overweight, but pregnancy was not very good to me. With my first, I gained 75 pounds. Then once I had her, a couple months later I found out I was pregnant again and gained another 30 pounds on top of that. When I started losing the first time I did Atkins, I felt really proud of myself the day the scale told me that all that weight was gone. I still have a long way to go, but I still weigh less than I did 11 years ago. This is your time and you're going to do it. I just know it!

          Re: Newbie Alert

Wow.. thanks for all the welcomes! Isn't pregnancy a wonderful treatment to the female body? Its fantastic in so many ways, yet destroys that bod we used to love.
I had 5 years between my pregnancies, trying to lose some of the weight, to no avail... I think I actually gained if anything. I was able to keep my weight steady during my 2nd preg, only gained 3 1/2 lbs... I was very proud of that, however I'm still stuck with this weight I've been carrying for so long.

I do not yet have the Atkin's book, I've been finding info online thus far, but I'll be going to pick it up this weekend, I hope.

So far I've been feeling ok, I've been experiencing headaches, but not horrible. I'm getting a lot more bowel activity... Not sure if thats normal.. I assume it is. I'm definatlely missing sugar above all else. My weakness has always been that I'm a chocoholic... So I'm definately wanting that, but so far I've been able to JUST SAY NO!
