  • Happy New Year! I'm new to the group!

    Hi everyone,

I started induction at 208 lbs on Jan. 4th, 2006. I did weigh myself last night and was disappointed that I have not lost anything in 6 days. I'm not cheating and drinking about 120 oz. of water a day. I am also having really bad "de-toxing". Feel like the flu, headaches, can't wake up in the morning(today was much better) I did Atkins 12 years ago and by the 2nd day I was feeling great and lost weight right away. I had a massage yesterday and she worked on my whole lymph node system which she said was really backed up because I am detoxing. I feel better from the massage. I also take Atenolol 50mg(blood pressure) and Lexapro 10mg. which I gained weight from!

I've been walking but not everyday.

I would love feedback on the meds if they are stalling me or I just need to give it time. (I tend to want everything RIGHT NOW) I am 50 years old and just decided I didn't want to live an unhealthy lifestyle anymore.

Thanks, in advance, for your feedback. I love this group. I think the support is totally awesome!

Hello and welcome! I don't know about medications, but as far as the weight goes, are you following the rules of induction and eating only those foods on the list? If it's not there, we can't have it. The "flu" should pass in a few days from what I understand. We have to get that bad stuff out of our bodies and that does take time.

I know someone else will be along shortly to offer better advice. Again, welcome.

Cassy, Dr Atkins said that Atenolol might cause stalls, I know because I take it also. I can tell you that I lost over 30 pounds taking it, so while you might not lose as quickly as others, you can lose.
Saying that, I think you should post what your eating because that didn't sound right, you should have lost something if your doing induction by the letter. There is always that dreaded TOM thats rears its ugly head.
Post a menu, let the experts check it out and see what is going on.

Welcome to the ADBB. I know it is frustrating when you know you haven't cheated and you aren't seeing the results as fast as you'd like. My advice is just keep doing it the right way and take your measurements. Thats what I did. The scales have always went up/down for me and depressed me. But, the one thing I can tell you for sure is that ATKINS works - don't give up. Just keep doing it and it will happen!!
