  • New and Excited!

    Hello Everyone!

I have been lurking on the board for a few weeks. Trying to decide if this was the best thing for me. After reading all of the very helpful information and reading some random posts my husband and I have decided to give this WOL a chance!

Let's see -- to introduce myself -- I am a 35 year old stay at home mom to one very active 2 year old. My life is great but my weight is something that has been a very negative thing in my life.

I currently weight 250.3lbs. I got up to 275 when I was pregnant and my daughter was born with a heart defect that I will always (even though the doctors insist it wasn't) feel like it was my fault. Because I wasn't healthy. You know?

Anyway -- I joined the gym and have gone faithfully everyday for the past 6 days! I feel great after I go and that is what keeps me going. That and the $40 a month fee! *LOL*

My short term goal is to lose 35-40lbs my May. So that I can fit my tushy in the seats at Disney World! We are taking my 2 year old and I want to enjoy myself and not feel embarrased about my body.

My husband has started with me but I am afraid I wont be able to keep enough variety in his eating to stay on it for long.

If there is anyone out there that wants to be my WOL buddy and help me out with recipes, hints, motivation. I am all for it!
I need all the help I can get.

Anyway -- that is anough about me. I was going to try to do the bootcamp but I don't get on the computer that much to commit to it.

I am going to post a starting piture soon!~

Thanks for reading and I hope to get to know
    you all soon!

    Re: New and Excited!

Hello and WELCOME!!!! I'm so glad that you're here!!!

Congratulations on deciding to change your life. You should be very proud of yourself! And going to the gym!!??!! You go girl!!!

I know that it is easy for everyone to say that it isn't you fault that you child had a heart defect, but I know how you feel. My son was born with a problem with his kidneys, and serious issues with his blood sugar. Although they said it wasn't my fault, I always felt guilty b/c of my weight. YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

I'm so excited for you! Disney World is going to be a lot of fun for you! I was supposed to go myself this December, but didn't....so you better take LOTS of pictures!!! LOL

They have an awesome recipe section where you could find TONS of yummy, legal foods for you ard your hubby. Have him take a look and pick out what he thinks sounds yummy, that way it's not up to you to introduce the variety. Believe me, you will have enough on your plate (hehe) trying to keep yourself dedicated. Leave that up to him.
I learned the hard way that I can only be accountable for me, and it's not my responsibility to keep my hubby on track. He wouldn't be happy with the variety and eat other things, and I followed suit. Supporting and motivating and inspiring each other is a wonderful and beautiful thing, but in the long run, you have to worry about you.

I actually ended up trying somethings my hubby made that I would have never made myself, and I loved them!! To me, that's the ULTIMATE way to have variety.

Please PM me ANY time....I'd love to be your buddy I hope that you like it here, and I wish you all the success in the world!

PS I'm a stay at home mom, too

What a great post. Glad you unlurked and joined. I am sure you will find lot of friends and buddies and support here.
I found when I was looking for recipe and menu ideas, I would just start a "whats for lunch (or Breakfast or Dinner) thread and soon I would have tons of ideas.
